Wow, thanks for rolling the server back. I finally get an exotic amulet to drop and the server gets rolled back. That’s pretty lousy… I guess if someone had something more significant – precursor? they’d be seeing red.

I assume there’s no way to recover this item?

I had just helped kill the Shadow Behemoth and a nice exotic dagger dropped. Need less to say when I reconnected it and 2 of my daily achievements were gone…….

The funny thing I lost what I get fro doing Grenth Temple. 1 Minute after the event I went to the TP and try to buy a Superio Sigil of Preception, The game buy for me 4 of those sigil and I lose the gold, when I just wanted 1 seigil not 4

Not even an obligatory… gee wiz, sure sorry that happened, we work to limit these types of issues.

You could have humored me and acted like someone actually cares that this issue keeps happening in game. I’ve had the server rolled back multiple times but didn’t lose anything material because of it.

Out of curiousity, in the event I do have something more material than a 7g drop from an instance, should I wait around an hour after it happens in game before I zone out? or does it just roll back to pre dungeon?

I lost my guild commendations + rares. I don’t really care about the rares, but when I miss out on a currency that someone decided to make obtainable only once per week, it’s pretty disappointing

In my too-many years of mmo gaming, I’ve never heard of a company giving people stuff that was lost in a rollback. I’m not saying it hasn’t happened in any game, but it doesn’t seem to be a common occurrence. Rollbacks happen due to glitches in software or servers and often affect a large number of people. It’s just one of those things that players sometimes have to deal with. Uptime is never 100% guaranteed.

And yes I have lost items due to rollbacks. Yes it’s a bummer.

hmmmmmm. I’ve been away from my computer for 5 days and reading this is really making me enthousiastic and thrilling. WoW a server-rollback. This hasn’t happen since…the gw1 ambrace duping issue.

So my first question is what happened?? whatr was the reason?? I know Arenanet can’t say too much bout it cause it prolly envolves an exploit or invulnarability. but maybe someone can guide me to the right direction (don’t worry, my interest is plain curiosity).

Second reaction is that, as stated, that a server roll-back is a very rare thing and is only done when there is a very very good reason for it. Please understand that this is official forum and Arenanet is very likely not going to be able to defend their decission in detail here. Also understand that they will never make such a decission very lightly cause it is a meassure that will impact a lot of innocent players. Last off all understand that a server roll back can not be undone

It doesn’t happen that often, and I’m sure they don’t say in the office, “Hey, let’s do a rollback and cause players to lose all the virtual goods they’ve spent the last hour acquiring.”

It’s just something you will have to accept. When you agreed to the terms of service, you agreed that at no point would there be a guarantee that the game would be accessible. I’m not sure what else people can expect. Code as complex as GW2 will never be 100% bug free, and servers always have a chance of hardware failure.

No, this isn’t “brilliant insight.” It’s just common sense.

And in case anyone wants a terms of service refresher: “You acknowledge that Service may be interrupted for reasons within or beyond the control of NCSOFT, that NCSOFT cannot and does not guarantee You will be able to use the Game or any Account whenever You wish to do so, that NCSOFT will interrupt the Service on a regular basis for purposes of maintenance or updates and may do so without providing You with notice before such interruption, and that NCSOFT may provide subsequent versions, enhancements, modifications, upgrades or patches related to the Software that You must accept and/or install before You will be able to use the Game.”

Unfortunately this isn’t that rare and I’ve had it happen 3 other times that I can remember but no material loss in those cases. Common sense has nothing to do with it, to my knowledge this only effected people in dungeons so I’d assume someone exploited something. We all know most of these dungeons have more holes in them than a block of Swiss cheese. Once again, thank you for the brilliant insight.

I am absolutely sure there was a rollback in March(28th, 9:20PM CST to be accurate)… I submit a ticket and here is the response:

“We regret the situation that you wrote about and would like to give you a few details: There was a brief outage with the login server on March 29th that affected a few of our other servers. As a result, some players may have experienced a minor loss of some progression. The dev team has taken a look at the issue, and they confirm that the conditions that caused this situation were very rare and that they do not anticipate that such a thing will happen again. They also confirm that due to the nature of the outage, we will be unable to restore any progression (character, guild, or otherwise) or items lost as a result of the issue.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. "

Please notice “The dev team has taken a look at the issue, and they confirm that the conditions that caused this situation were very rare and that they do not anticipate that such a thing will happen again.”

This useless bar doesn’t make you awesome. However, stuff above does.

Well, if you read that correctly, it means they figured out the issue that caused THAT rollback and it won’t happen again. Not that a rollback will never happen again. Welcome to technology, it has moments, it is never perfect. Look at Windows, how many times does Windows have an issue, and yet people will use it.

idk about significant but I did have 3g now its back down to 40s and 230 tokens now its down to 78.
also i found the bow of the white hart- its gone now along with my exotics that I bought from the TA vendor.

Rarely do I ever post on a forum, but I am surprised by the lack of customer support provided by guild wars support crew.

Not once have I ever had an issue, and yet the only time I do., I am met with "While I would like to replace or restore your items, the Guild Wars Support Team is unable to replace individual items for the situation that you have described. " – GM Master Mind.

I wasn’t requesting to have an imaginary Legendary Weapon replaced, just simply to replace my daily fractal reward that was stripped after the crash yesterday.
There isn’t much I can do, but the one thing that I have learned over the years that can speak the most volume in situations such as these is withholding myself as a customer.

Something so simple, and of trivial effect to the game as a whole, but would serve to satisfy the customer and they aren’t willing to help.

While we understand that you would have preferred to receive a different answer to your request, we must reiterate that we are unable to fulfill your request – GM Master Mind…. that can read a few ways but smarmy is the word that comes to mind.

On that note I have uninstalled my game and am moving on. It’s unfortunate, but as a consumer…. its all I can do. Good Luck all

doesnt happen that often? As far as i can tell its happened 3 nights in a row now. The login servers go down kicking anyone that tries to zone or log in (my guild has failed 2 bounties due to this). and then those affected seem to lose stuff like their guild commendations they just earned before getting booted after having killed the first half of the bounty

i’m hoping that last nights server maintenance fixed the issue.
