Severe Frame Rate Drops
sound like a cpu bottleneck
did you patch your windows 7?
Windows 7 need to be patch to accommodate the bulldozer architecture or else two thread will complete for one module
Update everything!
Windows 7
Latest nvidia-driver that are really good imo (check advanced>clean install when option pops up).

dude dont randomly suggest a bios update. a bios update should be the last suggestion you give
Yeah, in 1997 when you had to setup your BIOS correctly which could be hard if not impossible for a beginner. Nowadays it isn’t more difficult or "dangerous"than updating a driver. If he haven’t changed something himself in BIOS, that he then should know about, the settings will stay the same.
The MB is older than the processor. Apart from possibly several “Improve system stability”, his current BIOS version might not even be optimal for the CPU.

i stand corrected. I didnt know that the motherboard was that old
Hi there, i am somewhat having the same issue. I can play game on Max setting sorta. I usually dont. Medium everything right now. My frame are usually 35 to 50. Now, i cant do anything in the game with out having it drop from 40fps to 10 or 15, once every 5 mins, lasts about 30 seconds, then jumps right back to 40fps. This happened once before, and i forgot how my friend fixed it. Here is my rig:
Phenom x3 black, 2.5 ghz
ATI HD Radeon 5770 Diamond
DDR2 4gigs
Windows 7 Pro x64
Asus M2n68-AM Plus
I have all the lasted Driver for GPU and Mobo. (GPU being 13.1) there is a beta for the gpu, but it causes screen flashes for me, and it didnt even fix the problem. Please Help!!
If i hear the excuse “Oh its a cpu or gpu bottleneck” on a decent cpu or gpu i swear ill slap you idiots lol. this is the game being coded and optimized poorly and needing to be in direct x 10/11 and it ALSO not being able to take advantage of multi core/thread processors.
Good day.

Sorry, you are downplaying problems in gaming and in computer science. Without source, non anet employee cannot figure out the bottlenecks in the source code.
Poor optimization is a overlapping term that does not say much
direct x 11 is not a silver bullet
On the contrary it is a well known issue that GW2 uses 3 heavy threads and doesn’t use them efficiently.
DX11 would help performance but I doubt it is a silver bullet as you state.
GW2 does need optimization in the clients use of threads.

are you overclocking your GPU at all? I have an AMD 7950, usually clocked at about 960 mhz. But whenever I hit one of my presets that are over 1000 mhz I always end up getting the same problem. Game briefly freezes, then a drop to about 20 fps or less.
I figure this is something with the engine causing the gpu to crash, and as a result, the computer switches from the GPU to integrated graphics on my cpu…
Hey guys yeah I noticed recently since the update that it seems like the is running at like 60 frames constantly which is very weird for me since my rig should easily handle this on the highest settings no problem and before a recent update i was running it in the 100s for fps.
My Rig:
Asus Z87 Sabertooth R2.0;
i7 4770k stock speeds;
8gb corsair vengence ram;
EVGA gtx 780 sc with ACX cooling in SLI;
corsair hx 850 psu;
so i think i can handle the game anyone else see that there frames are lower than normal with a solid rig??
Hey guys. First post for me.
No matter where my character is in-game, my frame rate drops horribly whenever I move. Standing still, I average 60fps, however, whenever I try to move, the game stutters and my fps drops to 20 or below. Not sure if this is a problem with my hard drive (not an SSD trying to load the areas or something? Computer specs below…
Thanks!

Please post CPU and GPU temperature readings when running the game. Hardware Monitor is a good utility that will show temperatures and voltages (etc.):
