I purchased 20 Euro worth of gems, I got myself the new Mad Scientist’s Logging Tool, looks cool but the animation is terrible. Next I got 5 Shadow Dye kit’s and opened them up right away. I had 4 common dyes and 1 uncommon dye…
Euhm… Why would I want those dyes If I payed for ‘Shadow Dye Kit’s’, makes no sense at all. I feel disappointing and angry. Perhaps ill spend my money on games that do not disappoint in this way
I purchased a lot of gems over the years, but this time both my purchases seem to be a waste of money rather then fun. Arenanet, please correct this problem!

You might consider reading the tool-tip before purchasing items from the Gem Store. The Dye kits clearly state:
‘Contains one random armor dye from a pool of 25 colors that includes 10 exclusive colors’.
That means – 10/25 chance for a Shadow Dye, 15/25 chance for a non-Gem Store Dye.
It is a chance you take when you purchase Gem Store Dyes. Shadow Dyes have a much higher drop rate than other Gem Store Dyes, though.
(I’ve received a Shadow Dye from every Kit I have purchased.)
Better luck next time, should there be one. =)

Find it very much a rip-off to let someone pay that much real money and not even gain 1 dye that is actually mentioned. I am living on 60 Euro a week, I am not rich. Yet I do save up so I can get some gems for this game. If you end up with getting plain junk, you wouldn’t end up being happy either.
That means – 10/25 chance for a Shadow Dye, 15/25 chance for a non-Gem Store Dye.
It’s not a rip-off, it’s called luck. You did not have it on that opening.

I live on much less than you, so I’m not sure what that has to do with your chances of obtaining a Gem Store Dye.
As mentioned above, the tool-tip clearly states the odds of receiving said Dyes.
Good luck.
Dye kits are a lot like BLC’s. They are a gamble. I bought a few myself and learned my lesson the hard way. You are best off just buying the dyes you want off the trading post.
