My partner is playing a norn elementalist at level 12. This is an alt character and we’re leveling her through wayfarer hills map. Things are going well until it comes to the skill points. None of them work!
She approaches the guy and can activate the conversation by pressing F. But the guy is talking like she’s already completed the skill point, when she hasn’t.
This as happened on all the skill points we’ve seen so far. On the last one when someone else started the skill point event, even though she helped, she didnt get credit for it.
I’ve seen the same thing on my level 13. The thing is, you used to (rather illogically) be able to gain Skill Points before you could spend them. I think that all that’s happened is that ANet have “corrected” that. Right now my level 13 not only can’t interact with Skill Challenges, she can’t see them on the map either. I presume (although I haven’t confirmed it) that, when Skill Points become available at – I think – level 20, that will change.
Edit: She just hit level 14, and now she can see them.
I just recruited a new guild mate who JUST bought the game (the heroic edition I think he said it was that was recently on sale) and he told me he could not get any of the skill challenges. So myself and a fellow guildmate went with him. When we were able to do it the fellow guildmate made a new character just to see if it was a level thing. He was level 2 and was able to do it. I was level 28 and this new guy was level 9 and yet he could not do it and both of us were able to.
He posted a screenshot and submitted it through the game like I told him too but I also said I would check into it and post asking for direction. He is new and normally a WoW player so he compares a lot of things to WoW and wonders now if he wasted his money with GW2 since you kind of do really need those skill points to open up new skills…

They’re an account level unlock now. The new guy has to get to level 13 once before any of their characters can access them.
