Guild Wars 2

I’m so tired of slow loading screens. I hate using way points or changing maps while I play because of them. I’m waiting anywhere from 20 seconds to over a minute on load screens.

I had a velociraptor hard-drive and recently switched to a Momentus XT. Load times stayed the same. Is it my internet connection that’s slowing me down?

Other computer specs: Window 7 64, Intel Core i7 940 2.93 GHz, 6 GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 460 SE

edit: I should also mention that in the first beta load times seemed to be much shorter. It wasn’t until launch that I really noticed how long they were taking and started timing them.

What kind of load times do other people have?

2-3 seconds with ssd

SSD OCZ vertex4 here 5-15 secs a lot quicker sometimes, depending on the ppl arround or something

Thanks for the replies. I wonder if a ssd would help, or if something else is causing my load time woes.

Any news on why the loading times are so slow? I’m getting sick of it. I got 4GB Ram, and GW uses 1GB. maybe thats why?

My entire PC slows down when Guild Wars 2 is running too. Sometimes I have to wait at least 2-3 minutes before a town loads depending on how populated the town is and how long my PC and GW2 has been running, suggesting a shortage on memory

Or will buying an SSD drive fix the problem? (And also the PC slowing down problem?)

After the 13th FEB patch, loading time is more noticeable. Even my whole system on my PC starts to slow down tremendously. Haven’t had this problem before, i was able to alt+tab to update post in gw2lfg. And yes i did realize my ram sky rocketed. =/

Long loading screens are getting worse and worse for me. Currently stuck trying to get to Lion’s Arch (usually the worse culprit along with heart of the mists). I’ve got 12Gb RAM and an overclocked I7 chip…i really don’t think it’s a problem with my PC!

And is happening AGAIN with another character. trying to go to heart of the mists. endless loading screen, then disconnect. Restart game, login in again. Endless loading screen.
I’m getting bloody sick of this. It’s really spoiling an otherwise great game.
EU, Desolation server. Encounter this with all characters at different times loading all sorts of different areas.
Poor.

I partially solved deleting the “local.dat” located in C:\users\my-user\app-data\roaming\GuildWars2. This way you’ll lose all your settings but the file will be recreated lighter than before on your next login.
The problem rest on UI loading, it took a minute to charge background of dialogues, objects on inventory and hero panel, rendering radar and maps!
