Hi everyone! Been working for the past week or so to fix a five-month-old problem, and I’ve gone through every low FPS fix thread specific to GW2 that I could find, but nothing is working for me, and I was wondering if someone could look at my situation with fresh eyes.

1) Information about my (almost 3 years old) machine:
- Toshiba Satellite L55-B laptop; intel Core i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70 GHz/2.40GHz; 8 GB RAM; 64-bit. GPU is also intel and that’s my only GPU.

2) Only GW2 has this framerate issue; my other games are fine.

3) The reason this is an interesting case (at least in comparison to other threads) is that this framerate issue only happened after I installed NCSoft’s Blade and Soul. I ended up deleting the game because of GW2’s performance issues, but BnS performed beautifully. But GW2 is way more important, so I deleted it and all NCSoft files from my system. This could all be a wicked coincidence but if that’s the case, I’m not amused. Otherwise, maybe someone knows about an NCSoft file issue or something that I never heard about?

4) It’s definitely not malware.

5) All drivers are up to date.

6) I run the game at 1366 × 768 resolution at Best Appearance settings. Before I installed Blade and Soul, my computer could handle this just fine at ~30 FPS consistently. It was enough for me to casually RP, play WvW, and do PVE grinding without issues.

7) Now, even after trying numerous fixes (I even did a Traceroute to make sure it wasn’t my network), I have been shot down to a FPS of anywhere from 5 to 20, and it never gets higher or lower than that. The game is virtually unplayable, which breaks my heart because I’ve been an avid member for years.

Any advice would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried repairing your client ?

Go to “C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2” and remove Local.Dat

After that Right click on your Guild Wars 2 shortcut and select ‘Properties’.And paste /repair behind the “Target: line” so the commandline will look like this

“C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe” /repair

Press ok and start up your Gw client and let it repair.Dont touch your pc in the meanwhile,it can hang easily. When its done, remove the commandline again and boot up the game.

Your ingame graphics will be reset aswell now due to removing local.dat which holds that info,so you have to reset those settings to what you used normally.

I did what you said and it only fixed the problem for the day. I was really hopeful, too. My FPS went up to 20 and consistently stayed there. I logged in today and the lag is back – even ducking to 4 FPS, and it happens more often now, too.

I appreciate the response, though!

Have you tried Best Performance, rather than Best Appearance. Or, specifically lowering Reflections, Shadows, Character Model and Character Limit? Those are the ones that most affect FPS.

You could also try discussing the issue with the Tech CS Team via the ‘Support’ link above/below (‘Submit a Ticket’).

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice! Yes, lowering my graphics has always helped, obviously. But I play the game because of its beauty, and I would rather not play than lower my graphics lol – I’m one of THOSE people XD

I’ll submit a ticket asking for advice, I guess!
