Strange FPS behaviour
I got issues with my gtx 680. Don’t worry.
I got the same issue, with
AMD FX-8150 and ATI Radeon HD 7950 OC
my fps goes from 100 to 20 and viceversa and in WvW they drop to 15 when more than 30-40 people are around
but they’re a lot stronger
than they will be next year!
It’s interesting that all of my cores have a load of 70%+ in GW2. This can’t be normal! :O
This FPS is just annyoing and if it’s not getting better in future I have to play WoW again sighs
Have you tried lowering shadows and reflections?
It for some reason hits performance hard when turning the camera.
8GB G.Skill DDR3 1600Mhz
Nvidia GTX 560ti SLI OC
Yep, I’ve tried this and it works. But it can’t be that a friend of me has over 80+ FPS with a HD 6950. In comparison my graphics-card is better.
AMD cpu’s have bad performance with GW2 …and in general ..even with a high clock. checkout Tomshardware GW2 performance review. The AMD’s have ALOT lower fps.

I got issues with my i5 2500k 4.2 and gtx 680 though.
thats the 600 series gpu causing issues ..not the cpu

600 series GPUs are fine for most people, it’s just the minority. Indicating that it’s not necessarily the game.
I have the same issues with my GTX 690 when i turn camera FPS drops to low 20s and even low 5s. I have used EVGA Precision software to check what’s my GPU usage when i turn the camera and the problem is that when you do turn the camera the GPU usage drops to low 20’s and 10’s on both cores and returns to higher 50’s and 90’s when not moving the camera.
Most people got issues with the 600 series indeed. Anet must fix this in order to maintain a fair playerbase.
I am experiencing the same as the OP since beta – albeit not quite as severe. For me the framerate only drops to around 40 while turning the camera, otherwise it’s mostly 60.
i5 3770 + 2x GTX 470
eiksto – what happens if you set the target framerate in precision to 60FPS?
They should have just put in the requirements if you have AMD cpu dont buy this game what a waste of money. They had to know AMD cpus were gonna perform like crap but it makes no sense that a fx 8150 would perform that bad.
Get what you pay for i guess.
The ONLY reason you buy an AMD nowerdays is if you cant afford an Intel. Or some other money reason.
Thats not meant as an insult to those who have an AMD btw :P ..just saying.

Even the fact amd is worse then intel it doesn’t make sense that a top amd chip like fx 8150 should be running wvw at 15fps. I get the same performance from a phenom 2×4 965 and thats a way older chip.
I had this start happening this morning, exactly as others have described, after I had done some driver updates etc. I was going from 80 fps to 1-5. I have never had problems with running the game on max settings. Ive got a AMD Phenom II X6 1090 processor and a GeForce GTX 570 gpu. I even restored my PC trying to try and fix the issue.
