Strange crash
I had a similar weird crash… think it was a little over a week ago now.
I got the normal ‘send report to anet’ pop up, but I could still move and do stuff (which is not normal when the game errors on me). So I dragged it out of the way long enough to finish the dungeon I was in (was on the last boss). I knew as soon as I closed that pop up my game would close, and since I was the one that had started the instance, I was crossing my fingers that I didn’t get booted until after everyone had gotten the final chest. We did all get the chest, and then poof I was dc’ed.
Game restarted just fine. No issues the rest of the day. No idea what caused it. Was just weird.
Same happens me in WWW
Its not only the audio…players/mob/ambient etc names becomes messed up after the crash
After few minutes the game crashes again definitely.
Restarting fix everything except the hours of WWW queues.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
You might be better served by posting in the Tech Support sub-forum. Good luck.
Something similar happened to me several times during player-heavy LS events. First the audio stops or goes on an eternal 1-second loop, possibly giving a crash alert, then it continues to work but after some time and some actions it crashes completely.
The game is a 32 bit application and still limited to 4 GiB of memory even on your 64 bit Windows. I’m encountering this issue too on my 64 bit system even with minimal details (but lowering the details increases the time until an OOM appears). Maybe the game does just have a heavy memory leak which gets hopefully fixed in one of the next updates.
