Guild Wars 2

I just purchased 1600 gems for $20.00 USD, and not a couple of seconds after the purchase I was disconnected from the game. I tried to load up the forums to check if there was any news on this, and it wouldn’t load at all. Curious, I then tried to load the GW2 Wiki, which also wouldn’t load at all. It occurred for about 30 seconds before I could re-load the forums.

This was not on our end, either, as I could watch my YouTube video and load up GameFaqs perfectly fine while this was going on. My wife could also access the internet on her phone just fine while this was happening.

It’s all working now, but I’m a bit scared. Did something go wrong? Or am I just paranoid?

To me it just seems your internet connection went down for a second or two. Plus sometimes when your internet connection goes down it wont load the page….. until you restart your browser. Also I have had weird things happen with my web browser. So really there’s nothing to worry about. You can also run your anti-virus software, if you have one; just to have a peace of mind.

It wasn’t our internet, we could access everything else perfectly fine with smooth load times. Every single thing Guild Wars 2 related (even the Wiki) just wouldn’t load at all.

If the forum is down, the Wiki usually is as well, as they share a main site. This includes most of the GW2 sites.

It is just a coincidence that you purchased Gems in-game and lost connections to all GW2 sites. I would not worry about it, but if it makes you feel more secure, you can change the passwords to the email account associated with your game account and the password to your game account.

At least it’s not my system. I did a virus and malware scan right after it happened to make sure. It could have just been a fluke, like you said. Just to be safe, though, I’ll change my passwords.
