Hello there,
What anti-virus/firewall or Internet Security software do you have? It might be a problem with your firewall blocking some ports.
More information would helpful.
Thanks.
…. I hate to say this but I’m running Microsoft Security because my AVG just ran out.
Just a fly on the wall here, but I work for a computer repair shop and we run into issues with avg and mse fighting all the time. The issue is, if both are installed or there was a previous install of AVG, MSE installed over the top will cause these kinds of hickups. Also AVG tends to be very bad about uninstalling properly, especially the paid or full version. I believe there was a lawsuit towards an anti-virus company for not uninstalling their software properly, so anti-virus companies now offer removal tools to avoid such a lawsuit. You can find a removal tool for AVG’s software at:

Sorry, I’ve never used Microsoft Security Essentials before.
I’m downloading it right now to see what settings you can change.
I’ll reply to this post in around 10 minutes.
Thank both of you… I would much rather not restarting the download.
Also, just my 2 cents, aint no shame in running MSE, its light, free, and integrates with windows firewall.
Ok, SGT.9543, I’ve looked at the settings you can change in MSE.
First, try adding the path to Guild Wars 2 to the excluded list.
Steps:
1. Open the MSE console (double clicking the icon in your taskbar)
2. Click settings.
3. Go under Excluded Files and Locations.
4. Click browse, then find the path to Guild Wars 2.
If that didn’t solve it, try this:
1. Same step as above
2. Same step as above
3. Go under excluded processes, and type Gw2.exe
If you have a 64-bit computer, type Gw2.exe *32
If the problem persists or if you have any questions, feel free to PM me/post here.
Good luck!
There is nothing on the excluded files and location.
Could you please try adding Guild Wars 2’s folder path to the excluded files and locations?
Trying now. I have in disc 2… That’s still correct at this point right?
I’m sorry, I don’t quite understand what you mean.
Technical Support
Hi Soulrez – Could you please post a Game Advisor so we could see if there might be some other application interfering with the installation? Another possibility would be if one part of your system did not meet the minimum requirements or if your drivers needed to be updated this can also sometimes prevent the installation from completing.
