Hello everyone. I just wanted to have people look at my specs and tell me what FPS range I should be able to play GW2 at….thanks.

It’s pretty difficult to estimate how many FPS you’ll get, especially
considering that you get different levels of FPS depending on how your
settings are. I think you might be able to get at least 30FPS?

Wow I don’t understand then, the best range of FPS I get would be 11-18. I had that then I updated my graphics card driver. It helped a little bit. But i’m still getting 11-18 range. I put it on lowest settings too. I’m not really sure why it’s so low.

That sounds about right I was going to say 10/20 and not playable at all in WVW.

Thats like apples and oranges I play on a highend PC and get 35/45 in large WVW fights.

I just feel like I should get better FPS

your lucky you can play with that onboard video you have…..

2 upgrades I would make to that system, see how far you can upgrade the cpu, i would guess a quad would be the best it can take, upgrade to that, and put a real videocard in the system, you will probably need to stick to a videocard that dosnt need an external power source or also upgrade the psu….

the video on your system is 4200, thats an old onboard video chip ment for production work(typing and internet mostly) not games, the cpu is a lower end dual core phenom2 your really lucky the game plays at all…..sorry to say that but…..something people need to learn is that if you want to play modern games, you need to make sure your systems up to snuff….

with that system, probably an athlon II quadcore would be a better move then trying to find a phenomII quad, and videocard 6670 or 7670 something that dosnt have a power plug on the card, dont go below a *650 tho, lower are productivity cards.

I dont know how you come to the conclusion that he will dip to 21fps in wvwvw ?
My pc is 10x time faster then his junk and i dip to 12fps in heavy battles in wvwvw.

I am getting 11 fps in WvW combat with my phenom II 4Ghz with HD6870x2
and between 60-100+ in regular normal questing… 60+ in Spvp as well
WvW is just kittening evil for any cpu…

My laptop gives me about 30-40 in normal outdoor PVE with drops to 25 in towns (even less in lions arch) everything on medium/low.
No clue how it holds up in events … probally bad lol..
So in conclusion your Laptop will probally run the game pretty danm bad..
and WvW will be unplayable.

WvWvW is bugged so bad i dont even bother, gotten worse and worse….hope they get it patched up…..but i hope they get the whole game optimized better so it runs more consistently for people across all platforms…..

its part of why i roll my eyes when i see people saying amd cant game when somebody with an amd system posts they have fps issues…..because over half of the complaints are from people with i5 2500k or i7 2600k or better cpu’s and high end videocards….

the real problem is that anet needs to get the game optimized better….i love the game but….its way to inconsistent on similar or even identical systems……

^^^^^ this. The last AMD build I did I can confirm that it plays the game at very playable FPS it was for the kid next door. Budget build using some parts I had from upgrading PC’s and some new parts.

I would like to build 10 PC’s using the same parts in each and setting them up the same and just see if one would not run the game as it seems it’s perty much just hit and miss, but for every post on here saying this sux their probably 1000+ people playing the game and having fun. I do belive most of the problems are more on the PC setup or a single week link in the PC (part going bad). The best thing that I hear is update your GPU drivers, I still run AMD 11.12 drivers on my 6970 and never had a problem maby its just more or less just setting the PC up the right way.

its VERY hit or miss, i know people with 980x’s who have issues, and people with old athlon x2’s who are getting decent(playable) fps…..

eeek i would update those drivers….been running the 12.9’s for a while now(since before they lauched) and they are the first set I can say have given me zero issues in any game i have tested since the 12.4’s,i could work around/fix the issues with other games with radeon pro, but I dont need to anymore, and i saw a nice perf bump as well(dual 6870’s)

but yeah, I think alot of it is software and users being ignorant of what they need to do to keep their systems running properly.

most users never run a checkdisk
most users never defrag
most users dont consider what kind of crapware they have installed/running….
most users dont use ccleaner or a similar tool to cleanup the junk files that are left from day to day use….

cant tell you how much I wish somebody would make a free program to do all that and more….

also most users never update drivers…..and it becomes a problem when they have drivers from 2005 or 2007 for their audio…..or video…..or both….(i kid you not…i have seen that lately)

the few fanboi’s on here who attack everybody who has issues and anybody with amd cpu’s really need to grow up, the truly funny as hell part to me is one of them was saying he gets at least double my fps at any point in the game……was crying about getting at best 20fps in WvWvW, when i have never seen it drop below 25 fps even it nasty zerg where invisible people where attacking me…..

4×2tb storage drives(one is clean so i have a backup of gw2 on it)

my next move is to get a komputerbay 32gb ram kit(4×4gb 1600mhz rated) and use a large portion of it for a ramdrive to load the game into, it should make load times alot better

but yeah this game needs work….and i do think anet are working on that among many other things they are trying to fix…..it could be worse, we could be reliving the launch of WoW…….(i was a beta tester for WoW….dont get me started on that games beta and launch state…..ugggg)
the systems rock solid stable and fast, dosnt bench well but encodes faster then my buddies 980x using the latest x264 encoder.
