I had my nephew install and set up my account. He ended up creating a character with a violating name as a joke to me, “Godhatesjews.” I just bought it and now I have to sit through a 72 hour ban?! Is there any way this can be lifted, or do I have to punch my nephew in the face?

No way, but instead of punching him, you should talk with him.

We’re trying out a more kindly procedure, and since this was your first name block, we flagged the name (it must be renamed, but I don’t think you argue with that!) but we removed the suspension. If you rename acceptably — and I am confident that you will — then you’ll be just fine.

For broader info: If someone were to rename offensively, they would serve at least a 72-hour suspension with the second name infraction. We’re testing this, and we’ll see if it’s effective. I hate to go back to the “insta-suspension” for the first name block, so I’m hoping this will prove to work well to remind people to not use offensive names, get those names out of the game, but keep the players able to continue playing.

You forgot to mention punching the nephew, in the face or otherwise, would have no affect on his ban :p

one of my guild members originally has the character name
Mufaka Bloodfist

and was forced to rename his character recently (maybe 1-2 weeks ago)
the name Mufaka came from his name:
Muhammad Faisal Kassim

taking the first 2 characters of his name
Mu Fa Ka

it was not an offensive name.
why was he forced to change it?
