Q:

Can’t play Guild Wars 2 anymore after the new patch receiving BSOD after I open>login>play>CRASH

stop: 0×1000008E

attempted to fix by: Updating GPU driver (updated to no effect)

also suggested I should turn off my caching/shading in BIOS but I am not tech savvy enough to make the attempt and I read somewhere online it’s just a carry over message and is most likely not an applicable fix. Looking at getting more RAM since my rig is only running on 2gb.

If anyone else is having this problem (or is aware of a known fix) please let me know I was looking forward to capping this weekend.

If any additional information is required let me know and I will hook it up.

OS: Windows XP proffessional 32-bit

GPU: nVidia 8400

Processor: Intel Dual-Core, 3.20GHz

UPDATE/BUMP (idc if you frown upon bumping right now we paid for the game we deserve support.)

Now the funny thing is at 1am last night the game worked fine I could log in and play with no problems after I uninstalled and re-installed the game entirely HOORAY. After I defragged my computer, ran ccleaner to clear out excess files and the registry, tried logging in again and it did work.

I sent an error log to arena net (to which they have not replied), uninstalled and re installed all of my drivers in safe mode, updated my OS, re-seated the RAM, Disconnected my video adapter and re-connected, cleaned my PC entirely software/hardware, un-installed and re-installed the game AGAIN (to no effects sadly)

here is my complete system information:

Microsoft Windows XP proffesional 32-bit

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20ghz

Nvidia 8400

2.00GB RAM

The ERROR log: (coming shortly)

The Blue screen: (coming shortly)

A BSOD can be software related, but usually hardware. Especially a 1—8e.

THe next time it happens, write down the text of the top two lines in the blue screen. If it doesn’t stay up long enough, reply and I’ll show you how to change that.

stop: 0×1000008E errors are often related to bad memory modules. Dowload MemTest and test your memory to rule out bad RAM. If that comes up clean then…

“Fatal Error: Fatal disk-error (1450) on read” could indicate a bad hard drive. You might want to run a chkdsk (check disc) to see if any bad sectors pop up. If so you should backup important files and replace the hard drive asap.

Good luck…

Can’t play Guild Wars 2 anymore after the new patch receiving BSOD after I open>login>play>CRASH

stop: 0×1000008E

attempted to fix by: Updating GPU driver (updated to no effect)

If anyone else is having this problem (or is aware of a known fix) please let me know I was looking forward to capping this weekend.

If any additional information is required let me know and I will hook it up.

OS: Windows XP proffessional 32-bit

GPU: nVidia 8400

Processor: Intel Dual-Core, 3.20GHz

Similar problem, though NOT everytime. I would estimate I get a BSOD close to 50% of the time I attempt to play. Note: this did NOT happen when the game wast first released, this only started recently.

BSOD is STOP 0×0000008e nv4_mini.sys is referenced as well.

Also on Windows XP Pro. Intel I5, GeForce GTX560TI

All latest drivers are installed, Mem tests run, etc. etc. I am confident there is nothing hardware related wrong with my system. However, this issue is seriously starting to piss me off, as I have a couple of RAID arrays in my system, and each time I get this BSOD, the arrays need to be verified and repaired, which takes a significant amount of time.
