System requirements concern
i hate to tell you this after you already pruchased GW2. but.
You computer will strugle.
The minimum requirments are woefully inaccurate, and even the recommended are ‘ambitious’ at best.
Your best bet is to just try it. if it doesnt work to an acceptable level then Anet shouldnt have a problem refunding you the money as the performance issue is very well known.
Just to give you an idea. 2gb isnt enough ..you need 4gb minimum in all honesty. secondly a 4 core 4 thread CPU at 3ghz is really the minimum you need and it has ot be Intel and up to date (so a old Core 2 Extreme 4core CPU wont do well). And finaly atleast a last generation ’gaming GPU. So a 560ti is a good bet ..you can push it and get a 460 ..but you wont have a chance at runing on high settings and deffinatly not on ultra.
I got 2 computers in the house that are used for gaming.. the one im my sig, and my old one which i passed to my father.
Its a Intel C2E QX6850 3.7ghz (OC) cpu, 6gb DDR2 800 RAM, and a OC 460 GPU.
It goes down to 10 FPS in LA with the current halloween patch(main Gw2 city) before hand it was around 15 FPS, and usualy hovers around 20-30 FPS in light PVE on medium/high settings at 1920×1080 res. BIG pve events and WvWvW see FPS drop again down to as low as 10fps ..high’s of 20.
The GPU is rarely maxed out showing that even a C2E QX6850 3.7ghz OC is bottlenecking the system.

8600 GTS is about the same as a HD 3000 (the minimum requirements)
Your CPU is slightly above minimum too. I’m sure you can run the game and play, but my guess is you will get about 10-15 FPS PVE questing with settings all on low, and just choke horribly in the cities/crowded areas.
If you decided to build a better machine check this thread out to see what other people are using. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Post-your-FPS-System-spec-here/first#post558553 since there are no official recommended specs yet for GW2

Is this really the way the creators of GW 2 intended it to be though? So many people who have the right specs(according to what is on the cartridge aswell as “can I run it websites”) are still struggling with ridiculously low FPS. Even people who have PCs that are brand new with specs that exceed far over minimum are having these problems..
Can we expect this to be fixed to at least a playable state with the minimum specs you’ve put on the cartridge..? If not, I feel terribly cheated.
Short answere No.
however Anet does say they are working to reduce perfomance issues. The problem is that requirs reworking the game engine ..which is no easy task. So it will take a while.
I think its highly unlikly they will ever get performance to be good with their current advertised minimum specs.

Well that just turns me off from the game, even though I just bought it. Reminds me of Rockstar releasing GTAIV way too early.
Really though, I do hope this gets fixed to some extent. At least so that it’s playable and enjoyable..
IMO, never assume minimum requirements will manage to run any software well. Just my thoughts after years of experience.
Just because you can wear the minimum amount of flair, doesn’t mean your manager won’t give you a lecture (for those who have seen the movie Office Space.)

Your computer will run the game but your frame rates will be awful in most areas.
I had to bite the bullet and buy a new board chip and ram i5 3570k because my amd chip was not cutting it. Amd isn’t really any cheaper anymore because I compared the two platforms and amd was only 15$ less and the piledriver chips are still not up to par and I wasn’t gonna waste money on crap performance for the same price basically.
Thanks for the link kirito. I’m glad to know that there’s at least some sort of work going into this problem so I don’t feel completely screwed over.
Minimum requirements isn’t really the problem here, was just using it as an argument as to why I think it’s so lame that so many can’t even play it even though they thought they would be able to. Anyhow as I mentioned earlier, so many others have the same problem so I’m doubting this is on our end only.
I am running the game on mostly High settings very smoothly, with the following setup:
Windows XP Pro
Core2Duo CPU E6850@3.00 GHz
2 GB ram
GeForce GTX 550 TI
As you can tell, excepting my updated card, this is an older system. Yet, even with my low memory GW2 usually runs as smooth as butter at High Settings (except Textures which are at Medium).
Now, I do think there are two things helping me out, in addition to my card:
*Windows XP uses less system resources than Windows 7 (at one point I tried 7 and went back to XP because my performance in Skyrim choked as a result)
*I have an old 17 inch LCD that I run in a native resolution of 1280 by 1024
I just wanted to throw this out there though, to demonstrate that you don’t need a state of the art, fully modern setup to successfully run the game at decent graphic levels.
