Yes, please comment on this. Every time in the past that the BLTC was changed the mac client lost the functionality for an extended period of time.

I’m extremely worried that the game will essentially become completely unplayable on the mac come patch.

Well….you kind of answered your own question and I really hope Lacey doesn’t promise anything that would be very difficult to keep.
Let’s face it, it’s probably gonna mess up not just the BLTP but cause some new exciting new issues, perhaps an AsuraMotion error /bad joke

We have almost gotten the Devs to make the first statement about the mac client since a year ago? ever? Let’s wait for this and place our complaints and issues in that thread, it’s the mac technical support forum and we seem to be read outside of the forum as well now.

I prepared Windows for the patch and informed a friend to be ready to buy/sell stuff for me.
I’m also waiting for the CDIs and dev comments on the mac client to decide my direction with the game.

I also bought one of those scream jars

Well, ive got bootcamp on my imac, but not on my macbook (bc of disk space)
and I rather ask them beforehand to be sure everything works then get a fix 2days after launch, bc to be honest they have been quick in fixing errors lately, so if they can fix it before launch = Happy me

Oh come on, when have you ever known Anet to promise more than they deliver regarding the Mac client?

As you said, we’re lucky for them to even acknowledge our existence. It would be nice to know if they’re actually going to test the mac patch during a big engine change (unlike last time where they seemed to act like not testing the mac client is somehow something we should have applauded them for…which probably was not what was happening in reality but they sure communicated what was going on weird).

Well can confirm it hasn’t had a good start, not only not working for many people it even crashes the game without fail…

Well, good thing its not just a mac error but a general one (meaning, it’ll be fixed way quicker)

One hot fix later that was 30mb of whatever junk was sent still crashed my game and worse the gw2 community in the map I was in think I just whine for nothing, that it’s clearly my inept use of computers to blame… Though that same person did ask if I sent a report to support, typically after I did the tp magically works again… Am not jubilant in this but better it works than not even if the new layout needs work… (I considered but thought better of mentioning I’m a mac user, lest I incur more snide comments from PC users that believe their mac user counterparts know nothing about computers)

My TP didn’t crash yet, but it loads fairly slow, most of the time it has a no background, and its kinda hard to use a transparent TP window. But that’s not my biggest issue, my biggest issue, since i bought this Support Forsaken game, was the terrible, despicable fps.

I still am forced to lower ALL my graphic settings, i can’t even use native rendering or else my game goes from a max of 30 fps down to 18 and i swear that i’ve seen tetris with better fps. (no bootcamp is not an option, and never will be, or else i’d have bought a windows machine)

I got a mid 2011 mbp with 1gb video.

I play at medium settings roughly so am used to under 20fps, am on a late 2011 mbp myself. Having a better fps is essentially for some jps but the game sure looks ugly at lowest settings… Does anyone still get the gamma problem with the tp? Why can’t they get rid of it, after 2years even?

As far as expected patches/updates, we (the tech team) get the information pretty close to the same time it is released to players. This is mainly due to the process at which they test/release the updates. Because of this, it is highly unlikely that I will have any solid information on upcoming patch performance until myself and the Mac player base are actually able to install and use the client. When I test the game on my Mac, I do so on the live client so that I can potentially run into the same issues that any of y’all may run into. I hope that helps to explain why I was unable to update this thread until now. With that said, I am still going over the recent posts and will update them as I can.

wow what a joke of a response, basically this "We cannot test this because we do not test this because it is mac, if it were windows we would have a more direct answer but as mac doesnt matter it is up to the mac community to test it out. thanks for your monies please give us more. " just a joke tell you one thing as soon as something better comes along that genuinely support mac I am gone will never support another anet product moving forward as this has become the normal thing for us. It is a constant testing of the community itself. I am sorry but that is not my job I get paid to troubleshoot when I am on the clock I do not pay anet so that I can “test” their game.

Lacey is it at all possible to get the QA or test players to have at least one person attempt to run the game on an OSX machine. It does seem kind of ridiculous that there is no testing going on before patches are released. OSX users may not be many but we are still sizeable and the issues that people are constantly experiencing are not negligible.

Here in New Zealand you guys would actually be liable to provide everyone with a full refund regardless of how long ago they purchased the game because the product you are offering is not fit for the purpose for which it was sold (as required in our Fair Trading Act). I think that is a pretty good indication that the way things are going in regards to the OSX client is really unacceptable.

You are Arenanet staff, I think to say that it can’t be tested because the staff process for testing and getting updates out doesn’t allow for it is really poor. Why not talk to those responsible and get this resolved?

I lay absolutely no blame on you, I understand that you are very new to the OSX forums and you’re doing this on the side of your actual job/responsibilities for which you are paid – but the way OSX users have been treated for coming on two years is really pathetic. These are all people who have paid for the game and many of whom who have invested a great deal through the gem store. You (arenanet) have a responsibility to offer them the same experience that you offer every single other player, and yet you have consistently failed to do so.

On top of that the actual tech support offered over the past year and a bit has bordered on non-existent for large chunks of time. I’ve been playing the game since the beta weekend (using a Wine pot) and switched over to the OSX beta as soon as it was released. Feel free to check for yourself but I’ve been a constant poster in these OSX forums across release and I’ve watched as occasionally a member of staff has showed up to offer support. I’ve also steadily watched active users abandon the forums and the game because dealing with all of the issues from the user end becomes too impossible.

I understand that once people have paid for the game and you have their money there is little incentive from a management perspective to keep them happy, but this really isn’t acceptable.

Hi all, as some of you rightly point out, Lacey isn’t responsible for QA, she is Technical Support, which is a different department from QA. We do QA on the Mac specifically and nothing is shipped without QA testing and oversight. We do, as you know, still have challenges.

We do this a lot internally but you may be interested in knowing that compatibility QA (essentially Mac QA) is reviewing the forums, the crash logs and the information Lacey is gathering and they’re creating bugs, which the Producer for the Mac is reviewing with the relevant teams. Sometimes bugs are Mac specific, sometimes they are not and we have to determine which is which.

I mentioned in another thread that it is very helpful that the community is so strong here in helping each other out, it helps us hunt down the issues as well. Also you may be interested, I think it was asked in a different thread, that yes we are testing against Yosemite as well.

Thank you.

Spoke too soon the tp still blows. so two years and only after April’s feature pack did we finally get a long overdue reliable tp, for a few months at best and now the company thinks they can make a better one, instead we get whatever this is, with all its faults the old tp never crashed my game! 9/10 times since yesterday this one has and it seems whatever hot fix was deployed did nothing! 3 attempts, 1 success 3 crashes… 3 strikes you’re out!

Not sure if it’s related but after doing that it got the tp to load for me and no crash ensued. Then there was an issue with inputting so I had to close it… I tried to reopen the tp from the Black lion agent and got a crashed…

Had hoped I’d not need to post here again but the tp is still abominable, over a week after it was released it still crashes my client nearly every time! Have had no contact directly about this from support either!
