Guild Wars 2

Hello dear players,

lately i’ve been having a few problems with some textures, icons and those type of things. There has been time that it takes a few minutes to load everything in a certain location of a map. For example if i go to lions arch it can take up to 2minutes to load every npc, texture, every bit of terrain.. The same thing happens in the other maps. Sounds from skills are also delayed (i heard them a few seconds later even though the skill itself isnt delayed, its just the sound).

This doesnt happen all the time, but it has been more and more frequently. Any advice to help minimize this? I don’t think its from my computer seeing that this happens exactly the same if i use high graphics or low graphics, and it doesnt happen all the time.

Sounds like a problem with your hard drive. Is it getting full, is it riddled with viruses and have you defragmented it lately?

My hard drive stil has almost 100gb space and i defragmented it 2 days ago to see if it helped :/. I have no virus on my computer (ran a scan a couple hours ago and im really carefull with what i download)

100 GB out of what? Sounds quite full. I can’t remember the exact numbers but I believe it was somewhere around 80% of HDD’s max capacity where it starts to slow down. Could’ve been lower too. I bought an SSD (alongside with bunch of other hardware parts to be fair), installed OS and GW2 on it and all the rest on that old hard drive. I used to have those symptoms as well and now they’re all gone. I’m not sure whether it was the new drive or clean install of OS but I believe it’s either one of those and more likely the former.

100gb out of 500 (well, 453gb). I played a bit today and in the beginning everything was fine. Went to WvWvW and after some minutes it started to happen again, took ages to load all the players, terrain was missing (so i basically saw everyone including me walking through the air, had to follow them to know where i could walk). I can try a clean install of OS, but i did that 3 months ago so i didn’t want to do it again.

And how old is that drive? It could be coming to the end of it’s life. I’ve never done this, but based on some googling you could try SpeedFan and S.M.A.R.T utility to diagnose your drive’s health. If someone has better knowledge on it not working or some better program please correct me.

If you haven’t already, you could try repairing the game client or even reinstalling the game if you want to be extra sure.

I bought this computer on july 2013 and this only happens with gw2. I ’ve been playing crysis 3, cs go and league of legends and theres no problem in those games. Tried to login in my old acc from aion and tera to test and everything was fine :/

Changed graphics settings to highest and everything was fine, then changed back to Best Performance and went to LA and it started again
