I read nothing on the forums anywhere about a process that would be running outside of the GW2.exe client, yet I check my task manager and find something called an “Awesomium_Process” running on my computer and located within the GW2 cache? Can someone explain to me what exactly this process is before I delete it?

It is for the modified Chrome browser they leverage for portions of the in-game UI.

Hi All,

I’m also wondering about this .exe – I’ve been getting a DEP Error lately from windows and its annoying to say the least.

It means that I’ve had to close the GW client on a few occasions and reopen the client to get Trading Post to work.

From Windows:
“Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks can harm your programs and files.

DEP can help protect your computer by monitoring your programs to make sure that they use system memory safely. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it closes the program and notifies you."

Can someone confirm if the DEP should be closing this process – or is it a bug?
Should I do something to stop DEP closing this process?

Best Regards,
D
