Guild Wars 2

I’ve opened the folder, the gw2.dat and the gw2.exe is still there, both in the same folder on the C drive. I noticed the .dat file was missing the extension, so I added the ending, and the .exe launched and is now downloading the game again.

I stopped the download part way through and resumed only to have it missing the extension once more, and it is now starting to download from scratch once more.

Any Suggestions?

Are you absolutely sure the filename is actually missing the extension?

If your Windows is configured to hide certain file extensions and some program has registered the ‘dat’ extension, you could have actually renamed the gw2.dat to gw2.dat.dat, preventing the game from finding its datafile and forcing it to download everything.
