I am getting a error saying “this app can’t run on your PC” Get a version from the publisher that is compatible with your PC.

The game has run fine since last year and has run fine over the last month since I upgraded to windows 8.

Did something change to make it not run on win 8?

Any ideas, I can’t play Guild Wars 2. It keeps telling the app can’t play on your PC.

You may want to post your system specs, try re-downloading/installing the client, or just submitting a ticket for this specific issue (check the submit a ticket sticky).

Also, make sure your windows update is complete (but doubt that might be the issue).

So this has happened again and still no idea why. Here are my specs:

Win 8
AMD 8-core FX8350
EVGA GTX660TI 3g
32 gig of ram
MB – Asus M5A97
850 watt PS seasonic
plenty of hard drive space

Any help would be nice, having to reinstall the game is kind of time consuming and a pain but that is all that fixes it.

For something as strange as this, I would submit a support ticket like Kyllaa said and see what ArenaNet says.

Your specifications far outpace the specifications for minimum requirements to play Guild Wars 2. Perhaps what you can do is copy the gw2.dat file when you successfully launch the game to a back up directory for when this happens next. Then, instead of re-downloading the entire game to fix it, all you would have to do is copy over your backup gw2.dat to the game’s directory and update it to the most recent patch. This is a band-aid fix though since it doesn’t really fix anything but just expedites the being able to play again process.

I remember reading about some issue with some asus software. You may want to check your msconfig for an asus program and try disabling that, restart and test it. If you aren’t sure, please file the ticket.
