My roommate was nice enough to log onto the forums on his account so that maybe I could get some additional help. I bought the game on release digitally when it came out so I could get early access. I eventually stopped and over time my account was locked which isn’t abnormal in MMO’s when you’re inactive so I didn’t worry about it. However with no phone or livechat support it’s incredibly difficult to get help with unlocking the account and when I attempted earlier in the year I got sent in circles over emails over two weeks and gave up. I recently am trying to again and as I’m in the middle of dealing with my ticket, I get an email from the guild wars 2 support team yesterday morning at 5 am saying that my account will be shut down within 72 hours if I don’t verify my account. Problem is I cannot verify my account because I can’t login because my account is locked. Also, if the email is really from the guild wars 2 support team, which I’m sure it is because it’s from the same emails that I’ve been getting from them since day 1, how do they not know about a ticket I already have in about getting my account unlocked? I posted the ticket sunday, heard back on tuesday and after I responded to the requested questions I haven’t heard back since.

“We will not send emails that state that your account will be terminated if you do not respond. We will not send emails that state that an account has been compromised (unless we are responding to a player). Emails of this type are almost certainly malicious in intent”.

That email is a fake. Don’t answer it. Also, ANet doesn’t lock down accounts if you stop playing. Your account was probably hacked.

This email is fake indeed. If you clicked on the link in the email your account details aree in the hands off criminals.

Your saying that your ticket is older then 72 hours?? then please post your ticket number in the designated sticky for review. Also run a full security check on your computer AND change your email-password. It might be that the hacker has access to your emailaccount and is using that to a: pass the verification login to log your account in, and B: to stop you from seeing supports reactions.

My account information is fine, the previous emails like those I had ignored because I wasn’t playing the game at the time. This one I would have done like an idiot but I cannot log in so it didn’t matter. I was more so kitten ed off because I didn’t want to lose my account in the middle of trying to recover my account.

If my account wasn’t locked than it probably was hacked and the issue still becomes that I’m still trying to recover my account. Again my roommate was kind enough to log onto his account so I can reach out to the forums, I’ll go to the sticky with my ticket number for assistance.

Since your account was almost certainly hacked, be sure to do a security sweep of your computer being sure to also check for keyloggers. It wouldn’t hurt to change the password after the sweep on your email in case they got into that.

You are allowed one account restoration (an account rollback to a date before the hack) once per the lifetime of each account. Whether or not you use it at this time will depend on the state of the account and how you feel about it. It’s likely your old characters will be deleted and new ones, possibly already at level 80, in place. The account may be bare or it may be holding a lot of gold, etc if it was used for botting or gold selling. Using the account restoration at this time is not required if you don’t want to. It’s up to you if you want to use it or save the option for a possible future hack.

To explain further (cause you seem to be handling this in a bit light way).
To gather access to your computer the hacker has access to your account details. On top off that the extra security is that the hacker got access to your email account.

The reason your account is locked out is cause the hacker not only got your username password, but also got access to your emails. So even if you don’t have interest in this game you need to take actions now!

If you have trouble restoring your security on your own or even understanding what I’m saying get help from what (respectfully) would be called your local ‘nerd’. You have a big issue here!
