Has anyone else noticed a problem with the TP recently? A few times a day it will either hang on me or crash completely. It just started this recently.

The first time it stuck on the TP screen, no loading circle, just froze and I could not close it or even exit the game. I had to reboot my iMac using the power button.

Other times the TP loading circle just spins indefinitely but I can close the TP window walk away or what not but on return it does the same thing until I exit the game completely and reload it.

Once today it crashed the whole game and I got a 500 fatal error.

Just wondering if anyone else has been having this problem?

Yeah, its been happening to me too. The only way I know how to fix it is to shut down the client and then reopen it.

Many peeps get the issue where the trading post hangs and most times, it doesn’t recover unless you restart the client. Sometimes, restarting doesn’t work either and you just have to wait it out.

I’ve read other reports that t kitten ues may be caused by firewalls and/or anti virus programs. You may want to ensure that gw2 has exceptions made for those. You can troubleshoot by temporarily disabling these and try to recreate the issue (this includes router firewalls also).

Here is something to try if you are on a home/personal network, it will not work if it is a university or public connection, use the instructions or code 7.x:

I personally use QoS with priority set to high. Port forwarding requires static ip addresses.

You may also wish to try these basic Mac client troubleshooting steps also (length warning):

1.) run software update to ensure all drivers and os are up to date.

2.) try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first. Then…

3.) repair the client install

Open Terminal

Type the following:

/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair

You can copy and paste that in, but (check the dash) you must change the dash before the word USE or this will fail the forum shows an em dash (—), but it is supposed to be 2 consecutive en dashes (-). Run it and let it go until finished. FYI if you type the command yourself or paste it, they are 2 dashes (-) side by side… I’m noticing one sometimes looks like an em dash… It’s 2 en dashes though. (the dash before USE is 2 regular dashes)… Reiterated due to previous confusion about that dash on these forums.

3.)Perhaps after doing that, if it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many t kitten ues, even without the previous steps

Mine is located under the hidden Library folder (navigate using finder, do not use spotlight to search)

/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2

You may want to copy/paste this folder to your desktop as a temporary back up, just in case.

Delete the contents of that specific folder (you should see files like this contained within “config, dyndata.dat, user.reg, userdef.reg, and folders p_drive and wineserver…namestuff…loca..[long name]” just to list a few), then re-run the client..

~~Your folder is probably hidden (as is the default). I found this after googling:

Others claim alt+clicking a file/folder unhides the contents, but that was never successful for me. At least the link has visuals for you. Hope it helps.

4.) If none of this works, check the sticky and submit a ticket, then please come back here and report the fix that worked for you.

For me when it just hangs, sometimes changing maps resolves it, other times, I need to restart the client… And on occasion, I just have to wait a long time until it decides it wants o work again, keep opening until it does. I’ve never had a crash associated with it though.

Oddly enough, those of you experiencing crashes with it are a minority and since they aren’t reading these and you can’t resolve the issue with the lengthy amount of steps I posted above, the only way they will know is with a ticket. If they help you fix it, come back here and post the solution.

(everyone, even pc, occasionally has issues where the tp will hang from time to time, but the crashes are the real issue)

After some reading here I am aware that they are not reading the forums and that is rather unfortunate in itself. Especially when they specifically mention it here:

I’m not trying to come off as snippy I just couldn’t think of a better way to say that in my reply. Mostly I just wanted to see if I was the only one with this issue. It has only happened once in the last 3 days with a can’t connect error. That was corrected by logging to the character select and then back in. It’s not a /rage quit issue for me, just a minor inconvenience. Everything else has worked fine so far and I am enjoying the game. Maybe we should start a Mac guild

No worries! I do also find it unfortunate and have been harassing them for an official response, but none yet (nearly 3 weeks).

I’m still sorry you’re having issues. It is just an obnoxious inconvenience when it doesn’t want to work, but not utterly game breaking. Crashing on the other hand, that’s not cool and those issues should be resolved some how… Some day.

But really, just bombard them with tickets for every issue lol… I wish I had more so I could too lol…. Okay, no I don’t really. I’m very happy having a Mac client, even just a port that is way more resource intensive than the pc version, but I do wish they would dedicate someone to actually helping those who do have issues. It’s very discouraging!

Anet, why am I being blocked from posting in most forums?

After all the very horrid words I have seen lobbed at others it really surprises me that honesty is not valued in this game – some players are very verbally abusive no matter what is said or how relevant if is in game chat – but I have never abused any person or the privilege of posting.

I have, as others have, asked for changes that would benefit the game and I have, as others have, expressed my dissapointment in the lack of some changes that have been noised in the past but even now, almost a year after launch, still haven’t been implemented.

Games are important to many people – games can and are therapy for many – I will always feel passionate about any endeavor I put time into – and again like most players I put some time into the game and believe I, like all players, have the right to have the game work as intended – and ask the devs for the courtesy of extending achievements that are bugged beyond gamers ability to finish – I tried many times in the Frost and Flame to get several of the achievements but couldn’t find several and several others were bugged, you can check the darned logs.

I am sad you are blocking anyone from posting without explanation.

I found that changing characters almost always makes the Trading Post responsive again. It can work the opposite way too. Works on one character then hangs when I change to another.

I submitted a ticket yesterday regarding this and got a response that I should download an .exe file from download.windowsupdate .com then delete a local.dat file and run the program.

It was also suggested that I go to the Ncsoft website and download game advisor which is also and .exe.

Keep in mind that I mentioned iMac which I also included in the drop down operating system option for the ticket. Oh well. The TP problem doesn’t bug me that often anyway.

I’d probably try again mentioning that little tidbit in the next ticket or response.

I don’t think game advisor works on macs lol, but the local.dat, that seems to be similar to our generic fix of the gw2 contents folder.

Keep up your efforts Trog and thanks for updating us to that interesting, all though disappointing, response.

The proprietary web client they use in-game for the trading post (forget the name of it) is known to be problematic with CIDER/TRANSGAMING wrapped games.
