Guild Wars 2

So I Formatted my computer to install Windows 8.1. I moved all my game files over to an external drive hoping I wouldnt have to download them again. Yet the installer doesnt seem to seem to see them and is downloading them anyway. Anyone know a way to avoid a whole game download?

You should reinstall the game and then cancel the download when it starts (not the client update, but when the bar appears at the bottom and starts to fill up).

You can then Copy the GW2.DAT file from your moved copy to the new installation folder (just overwrite the existing GW2.DAT in that folder). I’m not sure of the details but there should be a Guild Wars 2 folder in your Program Files (x86) folder but I’m not sure where Win 8.1 puts a new GW2 installation. Keep in mind that there could be some permission issues with that folder and your current logged in user.

Then when you restart the client it should automatically check the new file and only download anything it finds corrupt or any new updates.

You don’t even need to reinstall… just drag that gw2 folder anywhere and launch it.
