I haven’t been able to login since release to the game. I have tried port forwarding, setting the computer in the DMZ, and run no firewall that I know of. Attached is my Game Advisor log. Additionally, I often have trouble getting the patches to download at all.

Hi Wannacookie – I would like you to try a new command we just introduced to assist players with these types of issues. To do this:

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.

2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”

3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”

4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”

5. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end.

Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes

Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”

6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.

If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.

7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” and try connecting again.

Thanks for the prompt response, Ashley. I’ve attempted the port test, with the same results. I am connecting to a wireless router (NETGEAR WPN824N). I currently have all ports forwarded (80, 443, 6112, 6600) to the ip address of the computer trying to connect. …the port test failed with the same error code listed in the original post.

I have now disabled port forwarding and run the test again. The connection has failed with the same error code listed in the original post.

@morior – Glad to have been able to help another player get in!

@Wannacookie – Okay so there are two other things that I would like for you to try that generally have resolved this issue for other players. First, I would like for you to try a Winsock reset.

1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.

2. Type “cmd” without the quotes, and click “OK”. This should open a command prompt window.

3. Type “netsh winsock show catalog >C:\LSP.txt” without the quotes. This will save a file to the root of your C drive called LSP.txt.

4. Once complete, type “netsh winsock reset” without the quotes. When the command is completed successfully, a confirmation appears, followed by a new command prompt line.

5. Close the command prompt and restart your PC.

6. Once back into Windows, try running the game again.

Should this not resolve the issue then you may need to flush your DNS. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Press and hold the Windows key and press the R key. This should bring up the “Run” dialogue box.

2. In that box, type “cmd” without the quotes, and click the “OK” button. A DOS window should open.

3. Enter the following command below and press enter: ipconfig /flushdns

This should clear your DNS cache. You may need to perform this command a few times.

If the issue persists your ISP may be providing old DNS information. Some ISPs take longer to update this information. You could also try using a 3rd party DNS service like those available at http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ or http://www.opendns.com/start/ . NCsoft does not support these services, but there is information on configuring them at those sites.

I just wanted to thank you ashley, I’m not having this trouble myself, but we need more pro active support posts. There are a lot of people who need answers, and no one is really getting them, so it makes me happy to see posts from someone who is genuinely trying to help.

I also couldn’t log in at my house since release! I had a different error code (58:11:5:504), but I’ll still offer my solution. In my port triggering options, 6112 was triggered by Starcraft. I deleted that “device” and now I can log in.

I hope this can help someone!

i have same problem with stating the game up i got error 21, 58 and 14 i have try all the help from the support side… the only way i can get into the game if i use (your freedom that only work for 2-3 hours if i what to play more with this progame i have to play par mounts) and i was thinking are you going to patch fix´s or are you going to just keep helping people this way

Hello I have unable to connect since release either and I have tried out many fixes but none have worked, Ashe’s response did not resolve the issue nor did forwarding the ports or any other shortcut fix

I’ve had this problem since the first BWE. I tried every solution offered, and finally wound up getting BattlePing (which does work). Now BP is having problems and disconnecting every 5 mins so I decided to fix this problem once and for all.
I have tried various firewall settings, including OFF
I have set up port forwarding, flushed dns, tried the /clientport 80 thing.
None of these have worked, even though my brother’s computer (on the same wireless network, same version of windows, same AV programs, etc) had no trouble.

Long story short: THE SOLUTION POSTED ABOVE WORKS. It ABSOLUTELY NEEDS to be added to the support page about this error asap. There are lots of threads about this same error and I’m sure there are plenty of those posters ready to pull hair out over this.
Thank you so very much for figuring out the solution to this.

This worked for me. After trying -authsrv, /clientport 80, and /flushdns. This was the solution that worked for me.

i dont know how to get to my port triggering options(im not very good with computers), but i am at the launcher screen with 5 files left to download. I download 248kbs and then my download speed stops and stays at 0.0kb/s, i need help with this issue
