Having registered a new GW2 account with my work email address I generate my first characters without having to authenticate my email address. Having now authenticated my email address the game will not now allow me to log in without authenticating my ISP address. Whilst playing the game at home, the authentication email has gone to work. When I get to work (I cannot access email from home) all I get is a Failure message; I assume I’ve ‘timed out’. How do I now manage to get to log in and play the game?

Ask support to change your mail address and get a private one. You’re not supposed to use a mail address you can’t access 24/7. Thus using your work or university or school email address is deprecated.

Go to your account on this website. You can try setting up the mobile authentication, which bypasses using e-mail authentication. That way you just use your cell phone to authenticate.

Give that a shot.

I just experimented and the authentication e-mail link doesn’t last a long while. I imagine that’s for security reasons. I agree that mobile authentication may be the way to go for you, if you’re able to do it. Find more info in our Knowledge Base by searching “authentiation.”
