I bought the game yesterday and after almost a day of downloading and installing and re-downloading some additional 9 files, I thought the game was ready to play.

However, I am unable to login. All I get is the message that I’ve seen reported in dozens of threads over the years – “The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by router or firewall settings, security applications or connecting through a campus network.”
The error code is 42:1000:7006:892

My router and firewall settings are fine – I even added a rule for GW2 to have unrestricted access. I am not on a campus and I have a 4 Mbps line that has so far been more than adequate to play WoW.

I tried the diagnosis listed in the support section and after completing the tests, I found a few issues in the log (attached – I’ve just included the server connectivity and traceroute logs).

Any ideas what could be the issue?

An update – I tried the /clientport 80 workaround posted in another thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/login-error-42-for-2-days) and I am successfully able to login!

Glad that works. To fix the main problem, ensure ports 6112 and 6600 are open for TCP connections in both directions.
