It’s been a week already since I encountered this issue. The ping is incredibly high and make the game unplayable with lots of warping. The weird thing is, the first minute or so after login and choosing character the ping is quite stable, then it goes up and down so frequently. I’ve tried everything from the internet and still no solution until now.

The question is, is this came from the server? Some of my mates has this similar problem but a lot of them don’t.

The ping spikes or packet loss is probably happening some where along your routing to the game server. Run a traceroute or ping plotter to determine where it is happening.

How do you know your connection didn’t change? Internet connection works likes traveling to a distant city. The fastest way can get clogged up sometimes. Your ISP may be having issues or you may be getting routed a different and longer route or through a provider that has issues with packet loss. SEA and OCE refer to regions of the globe so distant players that are connecting to NA or EU servers but since they live so far away they have issues.

everything works fine except for gw2
even other mmos still work flawlessly

You can try running a repair. But if there isn’t a huge outcry that there’s issues server side then it is on your end. If it is server side it will affect everybody not just a select few. To be honest I’m not good at advising in these things. But yeah it really can’t be a server side issue. You can google and learn how to test for packet loss like by running a trace route. That can help you determine if it’s a hardware issue

an issue on my end that only effects gw2 and no other aspects of the internet? not even other mmos which still have the same kitten ping?

Never mind I was just trying to help. People post about this often and I bring up the issue where a server problem results in everyone experiencing problems. So you can rule that out since not everyone is experiencing problems. It could be an issue with your hardware or your settings being too high and having issues like over heating or lots of other things. But if you are set on it being a server issue I won’t try any harder to change your mind and I hope you can figure out what’s wrong. You can also put in a support ticket if you like Though idk how far that will get you.

Okay well it seems we are at an impasse then. I’ve been playing fine on the 32 bit client. Since I’m playing fine with no issues that means the servers are fine. Now maybe if you are running the 64 client or your client is having issues that is one thing. But it’s not possible as far as I’m aware that one person can have no issues with the servers and another has issues when both people are connecting to the same servers. Its just troubleshooting. If you’re iPod isn’t connecting to your wifi router but your laptop and everything else is, then you don’t try to fix your router right? That’s all I’m pointing out. Anyway good luck.

We already know that it is not a problem with the Anet server (every single player would have an issue) and you seem pretty sure its not your computer, so the issues is somewhere between them. You cant say every other game works fine, because they use different routes.

it happened during the evening and throughout the night even at 3 am and 4 am
and u know EVERYONE plays at 4 am

Also college kids are on break so I know in my area internet is always slow even in the off hours because college kids staying up late. Just in the future if you don’t want help and just want to complain that’s alright but I would make that clear as your intent.

Some people just refuse to accept the fact that there is nothing wrong with the game servers, if there was every single player in the game would be having issues. Everyone thinks there is nothing wrong with their connection or the other connections in the thousand’s of miles the data has to travel. Every game is not the same, the servers are in different locations so the data travels through different routes.

Yes, there are certain times when the servers have hiccups as they are susceptible to local issues like power outages and local ISP issues, but in the 3+ years I have been playing this game, Anet has been very quick to fix those problems.

SEA- South East Asia
OCE- Oceanic

It’s normally us SEA/OCE players that get the short end of the ping stick.

re:GW2 ping- I’ll have to agree with Amaranthe. I have flawless ping in WoW, D3, Warframe, and HotS but for some reason GW2 is craptastic.

Many players had raised this concern abt high ping up to 1k average about 2 months ago. No tracking or solution were form by ANET. Very frustrated and I log in GW1 also having the same problem.

Rarely see any reply from ANET on this topic except ask us to wait, wait , wait …is Christmas and new year soon …zero solution.

Here you go. Check this out and read the high ping section. Then click on the connectivity link. If you actually want to figure out what the problem is this is how you do it. If you want to keep complaining then I encourage you to take five minutes and the same amount of effort you take with your complaints to actually figure out what is wrong.

If you are getting packet loss from Anet servers please post pics of that packet loss. Then you have evidence that Anet is the issue and it’s not just “a hunch” or “personal experience” or “a feeling”
