I’m currently using a laptop to play GW2 on minimal settings.

Intel i5-3317U CPU @ 1.70GHz/1.70GHz
8MB ram
ATI Radeon 7670 HD gfx card

I’ve been playing for around 2 months now with no issues (literally no issues) and gameplay is smooth for WvWvW/dragons/dungeons/PvE due to minimum settings.

However in the past 3-4 days I have been experiencing major lag issues that is unlike any that are described by others.

I have been mostly doing world boss events (even pre-events) in the past 2 weeks, but in the past 3-4 days it has been so bad that I cannot even get one hit on the bosses. My friends who are in the game with me on the same map say they are doing fine and they see me just standing there.

I have all my spells 1-5 blinking as I have selected them to be cast, but they just keep blinking and blinking and my character just stands there fiddling with her hair, stretching her arms when the boss goes from 100% to 0% HP.

As I am an elementalist, I have tried switching attunements too but nothing happens. Sometimes I see my boss at 25% or even 40% HP and my friends say the event has completed. On some occasions, I find that I manage to get some hits on the boss and thus get the boss chest, but most of the time I do not get the boss chests.

Sometimes when the boss fight has ended, I see my ele throw like 10 fireballs per second and change attunement to Air and fire Lightning bolts 5-6 times per second, like a sped-up video for all the animation missed during the boss, this also happens to sound.. (imagine a Time Warp that had a 10x effect instead of 2x)

I admit that I am playing on a school network because I currently reside in school, but like I mentioned, I had never experienced such issues before.. I just did a speedtest and it showed

600kbps download speed
7mbps upload speed

Additional scenarios:
Scenario 1: Lag so bad that I can’t even get a hit on the boss
Scenario 2: Lagged while fighting halfway and get booted to character select, come back and find the boss dead, with no chest.
Scenario 3: Died while fighting halfway and cannot spawn to nearest WP until the boss is dead.
Scenario 4: Boss is already dead (according to my friends who have no lag) but I still see him at 25%-40% HP..

Any possible workarounds?

use pingplotter and monitor your ping over time

alternatively you can try gaming VPN services like WTFast or Battleping etc

if you’re like the other thousands of people, you’re experiencing lag from the server-side and they have yet to even acknowledge that it is happening yet.

How do I get pingplotter to ping the server? Is there somewhere I can find the server link?

Thanks for your response. The same issues have been bugging me the past few days too.

I had the same issue as the OP for the entire week. I just tried WTFast as kirito.4138 recommended and it works fine. Goes to show you that it’s not our ISP but ANets game server that is causing this issue.

I downloaded pingplotter and I also downloaded WTFast and WTFast worked for me too. Oh well.

my pc worked fine when the game was released, but since the karka event, every patch there after, only GW2, it lags worse and worse, if this continues i wont be able to play at all.
