I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but I’m looking to upgrade my CPU, currently, with my AMD Athlon II x4 3.2GHz processor WvWvW lags HORRIBLY when there’s more than 5 people nearby, I was hoping someone would be able to recommend a good AM3 or AM3+ AMD chip for the game, since mine can’t seem to handle it well… thanks!

AMD is not a good choice if you want to play GW2.
What is your current GPU and monitor using?

wait a few weeks. AMD is releasing their new generation CPU’s this month. They will be compatible with AM3+

Leaked pre order prices: http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/21/amd-piledriver-cpu-pre-order-pricing-leaks-out/

(They will be lower at launch)
Heres the speccs:

The flagship FX-8350 is listed with a 4.00 GHz clock speed (4.20 GHz TurboCore speed), eight-cores, and TDP of 125W. The FX-6300 features 3.50 GHz clock speed (4.10 GHz TurboCore speed), six-cores and TDP of 95W. To round off the list, the FX-4320 features 4.00 GHz clock speed (4.20 GHz TurboCore speed), four-cores and TDP of 95W.

Good performance for the money, and will be able to run GW2 Very well. But ofc cant compete with intel though. But Amd overclocks like beasts tho!

If you looking into upgrading your processor in your system. Just make sure your current motherboard can handle the new processor. You don’t want to buy a new processor for your computer. Just to find out your motherboard cant handle it.

You cant say that GW2 will run very well. There is not tests for it. For all we know, it will be the same as the previous FX.

Id really hate to think they would be the same after the failure with the bulldozer chips.

Piledriver doesn’t have very big reported performance increases. Wasn’t it only like 20%? That’s just not enough of a jump from Bulldozer.

I’d say wait for piledriver benchmarks first, before making any decision. From what I’ve seen, it’s showing a pretty good performance increase, since they address some of the most glaring bulldozer architecture drawbacks.

i agree that bulldozer is not that great … i have good results with my AMD 1090T OC at 4Ghz and in worst case scenarios ( wvw ) i get 25-30 FPS …best is 125 FPS it’s is very acceptable. If Piledriver is compatible with AM3+ and i have a 10-20 % increase in perf over my 1090T i might just update my CPU ….

Im currently do not have the money to update the Mobo + INTEL CPU + more RAM and im sure im not the only one in this case .. let’s say that if i have a 15 % increase for a 250 $ upgrade ill be very happy because a Intel setup cost way more …

looking at the benchmark posted above .. look like the best AMD Piledriver is sitting between the i7 2600k and I7 3770 .. not bad .. i bet the price will be lower than intel .. could be a good bargain if you only need to update the CPU
