I am looking for an upgrade to my graphic card. My resolution is pretty low ( 1366×768 ) so 7770 and 7790 are what i am planning to buy. I am using core i5 2320 3.00Ghz, a 600W psu and 6gb ram, want to know how much fps would i reach with those graphic card on ultra setting ( i don’t really mind turning AA and shadow to low or off )

I would get the HD 7790, but I can’t say how well the game would run with ‘Supersampling’ and reflections set to ‘All’. If you set it to ‘Native’ and ‘Terrain and Sky’ and likely get 60 FPS or close to it. Turning on the two aforementioned settings will likely kill your FPS since those two are the most GPU intense settings in the game.

You’ll experience lower FPS in more crowded areas like LA, large WvW battles, and large dynamic events because your CPU is very low end.

Max settings on GW2 requirs alot more than a low end gaming card like the 7790.

You need somthing like a 660ti/amd 7950 to be able to run max settings with acceptable FPS.

not to mention with a CPU like you got, places which are busy like cities, large dynamic events, and wvw will still be slow due to the CPU holding it back.

First I don’t consider a Sandy Bridge Intel quad core “low end” whatever the speed but I digress.

Of the two cards obviously the HD 7790 is a better choice, being roughly 25% faster than an HD 7770. You definitely won’t maintain 60fps at that resolution on “ultra” but you will be able to beat 30fps outside of the usual WvW zerg scrums and event boss flash mobs. You may have to settle on some tweaks to the settings as Ilithis suggests if you want 60fps.

I am not sure if this will help you but I am running the game on i7 3820, 16GB RAM and 660Ti 2GB in 1680×1050 at max settings (No OC beyond factory) and everything is smooth until blobs meet in WvWvW. Normally I don’t feel any sloppy movements or anythign like that. At 20 vs 20 the game starts to be noticably slow at 50+ vs 50+ it’s a Powerpoint slideshow.

You can check out for example this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP_TEMnZNiA for more intensive graphics effects. The game was quite playable at this intensity. …but then there are those moments when blob hits the fan…
