Upgrading PC for WvW - opinions?
You can get 30+fps WvW with 2500k OC, it can handle more than 4Ghz easily especially with the Evo cooler. You might want to upgrade your 5750, but it will work with lowered settings. If you decide you want better visuals you can always upgrade the GPU later.

Why not a 3570K for roughly the same price on your list?
I had heard the 2500K overclocks better then the 3570K but it is priced very close so i could go that route.
Good parts, roughly what I have and wvw runs well. Don’t be shocked when you get into big battles though to see lag and 30fps, currently the server can’t handle some battles it seems.
Yes the 2nd gen Sandybridge will OC easier and higher than 3rd gen Ivybridge, but clock for clock the ivybridge r slightly faster. So bassicaly low end OC and stock ..go for Ivy. High OC’ing ..go Sandy.
I sugest the 2550k if u can get it , its 100mhz faster than the 2500k and doesnt have an Internal GPU both of which will help when OC’ing.
If you ge ta Evo 212 air cooler, you should be able to reach 4.5ghz ..maybe.
If you get a Noctua NH-D14 air cooler you can easily hit 4.5ghz and probably go higher depending on what voltages you have to run. But make sure ur RAM isnt to tall (G.Skill are ok) and that your Case is big enough ..becouse the Noctua cooler is HUGE.
4.5ghz+ will pritty much ensure you wont drop below 30fps in WvW .. You may see a spike or 2 drop into high 20’s but ‘most’ the time you wont drop below 30.
The choice between the 2550k and 3570k is like so.
If OC’ing on a Evo 212 cooler.
2550k = ~ 4.5ghz
3570k = ~ 4.3ghz
Ivybridge 3rd gen cpu’s run roughly equivlanet to 100mhz faster than a 2nd gen sandybridge. So if you have a 3570k at 4.5ghz ..you would need a 2550k at 4.6ghz to get the same performance.
EDIT: The 5750 may strugle to keep up with the cpu in big battles with lots of effects. Even my 560ti ends up bottlenecking when using all high settings. However you can just lower graphics settings to get around this and let your CPU do the best it can.

If you are looking for actual effective processing power try an Intel Xeon 6-core and replacing your AMD cards with NVidia, mostly because those are the ones I’ve seen actually handling the large battles without killing the resources.
Personally, I’ve had no fps problems with a dual-core, Intel and AMD dual cores even at 2Ghz run well, I would however suggest that you upgrade your graphics card significantly. Maybe if you don’t like NVidia try the Radeon 6970. (Anything less than a 6970 and you shouldn’t be complaining because you CHOSE to run it on those lesser cards.)
Seriously though, I don’t know why people are having problems with dual-cores. Mine runs just fine regardless of how many hundreds of people are “zerging”. Then again, I run an Intel Core 2 duo CPU and an NVidia GTX 480. WITH THAT SYSTEM I HAVE NO TROUBLE SO NO QUAD CORE ENTHUSIAST TROLLING
No overclocks were considered in my post whatsoever. You are better than that and you know it.
Thanks for all the good info!, gives me a couple options to consider.
