Upgrading my PC
700series nvidia cards are being released and you bought a 250?
bought it for 40$ from a friend who only used it for about a year.
250 is still a pretty high end card. i can ensure that.
high end card… It is at the very bottom of that list.

like i care, its in the list and still much better than the crap i have now (Geforce GE9300)
I used to buy whatever power supply was the cheapest and it was always the problem component of my computer. In my latest build I got myself a nice 750W (TX Series) from Corsair (came with its own bag and everything, it was awesome). Its lasted me over 3.5 years now and has led me to buying more corsair products, like the H50 I have cooling my CPU. If not Corsair, then Seasonic has some nice power supplies from what I hear as well. I would recommend a 550W, especially if you upgrade your GPU again or you get a new CPU/RAM/motherboard. 550W leaves enough room for future parts and some age degradation loss from the power supply.
Being in a ‘high-end’ list doesn’t mean anything. I understand wanting to support a friend, but that card isn’t meant for gaming. The 250 is a media card.

Well if you added 20$ you could buy a brand new Radeon HD 5750, still 3 times better than the one you have now (and not new)
If your getting a new PSU, I would recommend that you get a 80+ bronze or higher model.
Like Ilithis said, Corsair is a good make. Personally I love XFX’s models of PSU .

I find that it is always good to have more power than you need.
A great little tool to help you get an idea of what your system would require:

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Aye a Corsair PSu would be a good choice…but.
To be blunt …ur rig ..shouldnt be ‘upgraded’ ..its need ‘replacing’.

Agreed

Nothing “GTS” is a high end card. It will be an improvement, so if that’s all you care about, great, but don’t try to call it “high end.” By today’s standards, a GTS 250 is barely entry-level. I mostly use Corsair PSUs, and I’ve heard good things about Seasonic.

You’re going to kitten about CWT here too?
i will buy a Corsair PSU soon, but at the time being i already installed my GTS 250 and underclocked it a lil so it won’t go over a limit of 100watts. i dont have external hardware so my pc can handle it.
Thanks for helping me out with the PSU thing
