Verizon Fios East Coast Lag
yes, I am experiencing this problem.
I haven’t gone in game yet today. I use FioS and am on the east coast … now I am worried ><
It’s been going on for a week, can confirm.
I don’t have Vios but I do have Time Warner, and live in NY. Today I had the joy of being DCed twice while trying to do Sanctum Rush for daily, multiple times in Caledon Forest again while trying to do daily, getting DCed multiple times in SW looking for chests while waiting for a Breach losing a shovel each DC, getting DCed during a Breach only to log back into a Chest Farm map, and finally DCing multiple times while trying to use the BLTP.
It’s Quality of Life things like this that inspire me to spend money else where as opposed
To gems; I could have used the gold since I was planning on crafting one of those end stage Spinal Blade backs. Needless to say I spent my discretionary money at an internet entertainment service that actually works.
With the cold and snowy weather there isn’t a lot you can do so the top two things that come to mind is the first, that causes a population spike nine months later, or the second get on the internet. If you live in one of these areas effected by the weather then expect lag because everyone and his cousin are on, good luck
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens

99.9% of the lag and DC issues are beyond Anet’s control, it the Internet. Go to any online game support forum and the number one complaint is lag and DC it’s not just GuildWars it’s all online gaming just because one game works for you and another one doesn’t, is because the way you are being routed to the game servers. Also lag and DC could be connected with the way the game is connecting to the servers not all games are the same it may depend on how your system handles it, is your security set to high are you connected to the Internet with an Ethernet cable, or over WiFi, if it’s Wifi try a cable. How many people are on the same connection with you if you live in a house with a large family then that could be your issue. Do you download stuff, or stream stuff while gaming, are you on Skype when you play. Sorry folks Skype sucks, get on a good VoIP system that was designed for online gaming like TeamSpeak or Ventrilo. Before you start playing the blame game make sure you have the facts straight.

The Anet fankids in here defending them disgust me. You probably aren’t even lagging. It IS NOT the internet, the internet is FINE. I can stream YouTube in 4K among other things and it runs SMOOTHLY. It is Guild Wars 2 that is lagging terribly.
So please, until the issues affect you too, don’t clutter up these threads with your nonsense and make it harder for them to determine the issue.
Its not just Verizon, I have AT&T and Im betting that my friend in the Netherlands has a different ISP as well and he has been getting DCed a lot lately as well. Its definitely GW2, I cant get any site on the internet to load slowly/refuse to load, any other MMO runs smooth and my router is used only by myself and one other computer and most of the time the other computer is loading a webpage if that. Beyond my 4 walls I cant say how clogged my route to the server gets but it seems to be only that particular route to the GW2 servers that is borked. The rest of the internet roads are fine, only GW2 uses the perma-jammed route that causes chaos.
If it’s Anet then how come I never lag and only been DCed twice since I have played this game since launch, no it not Anet. I’m on Comcast in Denver maybe that I live less then 3 miles from the major data center hub for Denver I’m not sure if this helps but I never lag and none of my in game friend lag either, so not sure what the issue is but its not Anet. If it were Anet then everyone would lag and that’s just not the case.

This forum is for people who are looking for technical support. It is not supposed to be a discussion about whether or not ArenaNet is at fault for running a laggy service. The only reason this discussion is happening is because people like you come in here and waste everybody’s time. It is evident a lot of people are having issues, so whether or not you are having issues is irrelevant and that is why you shouldn’t be in this thread.

It’s not me I just traded in my modem today for a new modem that has a built in router, I did this because I upgraded my internet speed from Time Warner Turbo to Extreme. There’s no excuse I have new equipment, and I’m paying for premium speed.
It doesn’t matter what your speed test results indicate, that is only testing the connection between you and the provider. It doesn’t test between you and the GW2 game servers. If you want a real indication then use a trace route between you and the game servers. It will show a ping in milliseconds between each node you pass through as well as packet loss and will be a better indication of where the problem lies. I would bet that everyone who is experiencing lag and DC’s will find that the issue is between nodes outside of Anet. Think about it, if the issue was with Anet’s connection then every single person would be having problems.

An ISP provider (or their internet contractor) can have a routing issue that has nothing to do with YouTube routing. You assuming this is Anet is like blaming Madison Square Garden that you can’t easily get from Philadelphia to their venue…..but you can drive to Boston without an issue. Run a TRACERT and SEE where the problem is before you assume the last station in your internet train is to blame.
NOTE, I’m not saying this can’t be Anet’s fault, but if it was, MANY more than just a single ISPs customers would be having issues.
If you have evidence that it IS Anet servers, submit a ticket with that info. If you find evidence it’s somewhere else in the path, you need to submit a ticket with your ISP alerting them to the potential routing (or router failure) issue.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
If anyone bothered to read other threads they would see this isn’t anet’s cause. A of tnofnuse ran tracerts and pingplotter. It’s the route our ISPs tajebto their servers. Anet can’t control the route our ISP takes.
