Hello everyone.

I downloaded the GW2 client for my new PC today, everything was fine. Running smooth at 60fps. But now, a couple of hours latter after i pass the character selection screen my FPS can barely hit over 15.

What is going on?

GW2 is the only game this is happening (tested BF4, DA Inquisition and Warframe – all fine)

Your gpu is running at x1. Put it to the closest to cpu pcie 3.0 line and make sure it’s running at x16. You can force this in the bios.

Then reduce reflections to Terran&Sky, Character limits to medium and uncheck High resolution Character. They put a lot of unnecessary dtress to the cpu and the performance hit is quite high.
And put Frame limiter to unlimited.

Thank you very much

But I’m just curious how is it not hitting other games performance?

Because pcie speed really matters in gw2. I don’t know why it happens, but it could be this game being in dx9 (all graphics are rendered first in the cpu) and very cpu based, like most mmo.
I did tests and these were the results:
- x16 had 110fps underwater, 70’s in empty map, 50’s in more heavy graphic situation and 23-24 in heavy cpu situation.
-x8 had 100 fps underwater, 60’s in empty map, 46 in more heavy graphic situation and 22-23 fps in heavy cpu situation.
- x4 had 77fps underwater, 45’s in empty map, 36 in more graphic situation and 20-21 in heavy cpu situation.
