Very low fps (8 to 9!) after last update!
I’m exactly in the same position. I used to have a steady 20-25 fps before the patch (not a huge amount, but it’s something you can live with). Now I have, yeah, 8-9 and the game is unplayable. My guess would be it’s because they forced the 64 client onto us.

New to the forums but wanted to try and help out in my fellow GW2 community.
While I can’t address exactly why you are losing FPS since the upgrade, there are some things you can try.
- If you are running the 64 Bit client, try forcing it into 32 Bit and see if this may address your issue.
-Check your CPU with either Speccy or CPU-Z to see if your processor might be overheating.
- Reinstall the game and or graphics card drivers if all else fails.
To clear up about performance issues, the 64 Bit client is too address memory (Ram) issues from occurring. This generally doesn’t improve overall performance.
Until AreaNet decides to do a massive overhaul towards multicore processing – (DirectX 11 / DirectX 12), you will have to live with the low FPS in towns. It’s a plague General MMOs face altogether, a little worse on this being a little behind on engine advancements.
Just to give you a general idea, a I7 4790K (Best single core performance on the market still) partnered with a 980Ti still gets drips while in town.
I hope I helped in some way.
Hope to see you soon in game!
^Thank you for the tips! I’ll try it as soon as I get the time as I don’t know how to force the application to run on 32.
Edit: There is another thread about it, so I just find out it is very simple actually to solve.
The game now has two “.exe” files, the “-64” one is actually not set to work with NVIDIA or whatever video card you are using.
All you have to do is open the NVIDIA settings dialog box and and click in “add” to select the “-64” exe file to the list. Once it is select just set it to work with NVIDIA and voila.
You will find the “Gw2-64.exe” file in the game folder
