Hi guys, i don’t know what to do, even if i tried few options, still got very low fps on low details. I’ve played AC Syndicate on ultra without problems, Tomb Raider, Witcher 3, etc. On this game, same as LoL, i have problem with fps, frames and very annoying moments, unfortuanlly.
My system is:
Ndvidia GTX 960, 4 GB Ram
AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz 8-core
8 GB Rams
Windows 7 ultimate 64

Run the game and CPU-Z and GPU-Z (at the same time) and post the pictures.

Your cpu is not good enough to play cpu based games like gw2 or LoL. AMD FX have terrible single core performance, which is what it is important.

In gw2, enable effect LOD, disable reflections and shadows, and put Character Model limit to “Low”.

The CPU is “all right” but not great. You didn’t define what “very low” means to you. Are we talking under 60 fps? 30? single digits? And doing what?

The reason for the CPU “hate” is this game unlike many other games is a lot more CPU performance limited rather than GPU. The AMD FX- series have relatively low per core performance. Not saying the game is using only one core but it can only run as fast as the main thread which can’t, like any thread, exceed the performance of a single core.

You lighten the overall workload by playing with the shadow and reflection settings as well as the character model limit (number of other players visible around you) as these seem to be more CPU dependent.

When i’m playing with everything on low, i have like 20 fps while i’m fighting against 2, 3 mobs, ins’t normaly.
I bought this PC 3 months ago, especially to play this game on high or atleast without frames and now is worse than my old PC, which was way under this one

Ok, I run the same video card but have a different chip. I use an AMD FX 6300. I play at the same resolution with all settings set to High with a few exceptions.

1. Shadows is set to low.
2. Post processing is set to low.
3. Character model limit is set to Medium
4. Character model quality is set to Low.
5. Vertical sync is on.
6. High res character textures is off.

There might be other things to note but my fps hovers around 40+.

After i’ve done that, i feel a little better, especially after i moved on high, but still pretty bad fps. Here is a screenshot.

Your previous screenshot shows in-game resolution of 1680×1050.

Playing in a non-native resolution can lower performance. Flip it to 1080 and see how it goes.

OP,
The screenshot you’ve attached that shows the sensor tab shows idle clocks. Maybe this is the reason for your low fps.

Something else is going on here, it shouldn’t be that low. It appears the PCIe bus is working as best as it can on an FX- motherboard. More than enough GPU for the job. The CPU isn’t so terrible that you would be stuck at 20 FPS in Caledon Forest.

I’ve played on 1080 res untill last night, but the difference now is clear. On 1080 i have 20 fps on low, but now, on this res i have 20+ fps on High.

What do you mean ? Can you explain for a noob ? Please

Your GPU has a Core and Memory clock. Higher clocks = more performance (in most cases)

Your GPU also has powersaving features that lower the clocks when they arent needed, like idling on desktop or web browsing. It picks up clock rates when you start a game or a 3D rendering program.

Your first screenshot shows those clocks and when the screen was taken they’re only doing ~ 135 core/ 202 memory when they should be at 1140/1753.

Those dips in the graph where the clock rates drop down could be a problem, or it could be normal if those low areas are caused from you not running a game or being tabbed out to desktop.

First you have to pinpoint if the drops are simply from alt+tabbing to desktop or if they happen when the game window is up.

Start GW2 then log in somewhere and stand, then bring up GPU-Z’s sensor tab and let it sit ontop of the GW2 window so you can see both at once, watch the clock speeds.

If they’re dipping that low while the game is being drawn, theres an issue with heat or voltage limits.

If its not dropping then GPU clocks aren’t a problem and I’d still be unsure what the problem is. Because there is a problem.

Your CPU are known for having weak single threaded performance compared to Intel but it’s not weak enough to produce 20ish FPS during light pve gameplay.

I have 8320 oc’ed and don’t have problem like that. About amd cpu’s if u have motherboard with weak power section it can throttle (lower cpu clocks = lower performance). 2nd thing what cpu temps are u getting while playing GW2? If it gets to hot it can throttle 2. Or maybe CPU is in power saving state and thats why u get that fps (try changing in windows to performance mode).

Write us what motherboard do u use and what cpu temps are u getting (CPUID HWMonitor application will show You temps, tell us in motherboard section tempin0, tempin1, tempin 2 (1 and 2 can be other names) and package temp).

are you guys running windows 7 ? if so i got an idea you can try, hit start , in the search bar in start menu type in ‘%’ Temp ‘%’ without the apostrohes or spaces (forums not letting me post the percent key otherwise) open that,,, delete the GW2 cache (youll see it) then after that,, and make sure your in admin mode but go to my computer ,, windows, find the prefetch folder and delete everything outta there except readyboot. I sometimes get this FPS bug and this fixes it.
