Waiting on help for serial code issue
I’m just a player but if I understand right you had an existing GW2 prepurchase or preorder account. You then went to input your retail key and said you had an existing guild wars account but at that point typed in the info for GW 1 and not the PrePurchase account. Is that right?
I pre ordered from gamestop created the account and played with it til I thought “why am I giving them my money when I can give it to ANet?” so I got a refund and purchased it online. When It prompted me for my info I put my GW account in and put the email of the first account in as the log-in email/mailing address. It was successful. I played on it til the 31st to when it said I am not allowed to play. Scoured my emails and found out that instead of having the email I entered it chose to use my GW account.
All I am asking is for a) transfer the key to the account I wanted to make and played on or b) a refund so I can buy another key to register on that account.
I know it is more or less an error on my part for not diligently reading all the emails I got but I am really hoping to get my character back.
Anyone know how long it takes to get a reply? This is by far the most enjoyable game I have played and it is agonizing not to be able to experience it with my friends and family. I’d love to get a reply or at least someone to check out my ticket. I am coming up on 6 days without a reply … nearly half the time this game has been out I have been waiting for help.
I’m in the same boat bro. Made a ticket on the 29/8/12 and I still havent had a reply.
same boat ticket went in on the 26/8/12 when i noticed something was wrong. Sent all the details they asked for and nothing apart from the e-mail that was sent today telling me how to link GW to GW2 account which i never asked for.
Same issue, my email wouldnt register the key (which is where my pre-purchase is) so I thought it wanted the @ncsoft address and it took that and created a new gw2 account and locked down my pre-purchase account.
Last night a user with an 8 day old ticket with this same issue was resolved:

so maybe three more days on my 5 day old ticket, or if they ignore that one then it will be 5 more days on my other ticket…

Looking like it’s going to be like this for me too.
Except I’m honestly so afraid of creating another ticket just because I feel it’ll increase the wait time even more.

Yeah, there have been a few reports of ncsoft sending out nasty grams for creating too many tickets. I considered creating a ticket for each topic just to see which one gets resolved first, but I work for a support team myself and I know this can cause skewed numbers which in turn can make them triage tickets differently.
taps fingers by tomorrow I will have been waiting to play the game longer than I have been able to play it.
Too bad this is so hard to get done with such avid and supportive playerbase. I found the perfect game for me…. I just can’t play it >.>

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we catch a break. It is pretty lame but I know the moment I get back to playing I will be really happy and forget it. Until then I am going crazy

Yes I am putting forth much effort to remain somewhat positive and reflect on the enjoyment I have already had and will have after this issue is resolved… here’s to keepin our chins up
I’ve been waiting 16 days. I’m wondering if they work weekends now or not, if not it’ll go up to 18 days.

Same boat ticket went in on the 26 of August 2 weeks tomorrow and nothing as been done. Got a mail from Pluto who said “I am escalating your ticket to a Senior member of the Account Login Team to further assist you. Someone will be in contact with you as soon as the issue has been fully reviewed.” this was on the 4 of September and has never happened.
The last serial code issue was resolved by a GM on this Forum to make it look like they were helping people with the issue. Can you show me one over person on these forums that has had his serial code resolved. No
As of today i will be putting in ticket everyday until they do something or ban me .
The Ban won’t help because how can you ban somebody who can’t get into the game to play . Because i keep getting told I need to put in a retail serial code into my account.
So the ball is in you court Anet do something to help us.
I’m in a similar situation. It didn’t let me link my retail key to me pre-order account, so it instead made a new account with the exact same e-mail address.
my boyfriend is having the same problem.
same code with different e-mail log ins.
to make it worse, gamestop gave us a different key to redeem digital deluxe items on the 5th… after we had a code for the same purchase since early august.
I have similar issues on my account that I prepurchased in late june or early july as well.
Seems like it is too easy to get accounts mixed up when registering.
I am using my gf’s account right now (this is Loyheta). I don’t know if they are working on my problem right now or maybe someone just did half of the job but I can not log into the support forums any longer. I can log into the account I want my serial key on but the key is not applied. So it seems they deleted my old account without moving the key over to the one I want (Loyheta.7294). I have no email discussing this so i have no idea what is going on.
Turns out I was wrong…. I was hacked while waiting for this issue to be fixed. facepalm this is disastrous. I have no idea what this “fan site” was but I think the only one that shares this email is curse. So unless Curse got hacked I think you guys are lying to us…. but if my accounts were fixed I honestly wouldn’t care. Just fix the problems please and put some authentication stuff up
New update: I (loyheta.7294 and loyheta.5638) (my .5638 account was supposed to be the .7294 but the sloppy registration messed this up) have been hacked, now my .5638 account is gone along with my GW1 account, I have been waiting over a week with no reply to my ticket. I am losing all faith in ANet… the amazingness of the game is starting to look less attractive in the light of all these major screw ups with their systems and neglect on the part of support. I know they are normal people and I feel sorry for them… but at this point they should hire on some temp people to help with this as the longer this takes the more likely they are going to lose massive amounts of money and only have bad publicity.
Please ANet… get some temp support people… please remove ALL credit cards and disable the ability to save them till you have an option to remotely remove it and add security authentications for the card and accounts. Don’t even let people log in from a different IP address til they have approval. Please please please don’t lose your greatness because of these things… just go the extra mile (like you have done with the game) and get more people on support.

same issue, reported on the 28th too, had one reply about 3 days ago, but they seem to have gone dark again now.
