Been having this really annoying bug/glitch/error, whatever you wanna call it, where all of a sudden while playing, I start hearing this annoying “ooooOOOOOooooOOOOOoooooOOOOOooooooOOOOOO” sound which loops infinitely until I shut down the client.
It sounds like some kind of warning alarm or something, but I don’t get any actual errors or anything else than that really loud and annoying sound.

I’ve tried turning the master volume of the client down to 0%, but it doesn’t affect it.

Would really appreciate getting this fixed, as it’s very annoying having to either play with that sound wailing, or restart the client, which means that if I’m playing WvWvW I’ll have to queue up again.

Im having the same problem.
Once the launcher starts the client the noise pops out. Turning off the volume doesnt solves it, chianging the mute client audio when minimized doesnt either; neither muting the game in the sound control of windows.
It just keeps there untill you close the client.

PD: it doesnt really starts when opening the client, but actually when the client renders the graphics and character models.

Getting same problem while doing WvW and there are large groups of zergs form the other side.

note: I am using recording hardware ith asio drivers

A real pain when you wait over an hour in que to play and have this happen 5 minutes in, then have to quit and re-que…

I am also having the same problem, this time it occurred after i completed an event. The sound is super loud and unbearable so I am forced to disable my sound from the game or restart my client.

I’m having the same prob. Seems to happen in huge WvW battles most often, and its a real bummer having to re-queue. On a side note can we get some kind of 2-3 minute grace period before it boots us out of WvW?

Apparently it’s caused by the Sound Quality option. Lower it and it should never happen again.

I have the same Issue.
I just played WvW and this Sound appeared out of nowhere, twice! I had to close the client and restarted it, to get the normal sound back.

I played a few days ago, a few hours WvW and had no problems at all.
I didn’t changed any settings or drivers on my Computer.

I use the onboard Sound of my Mainboard.

I have had this occur twice; the second time was during the Shatterer fight, so the number of people on-screen may have something to do with it. Closing and restarting the client took care of the problem both times, but I’ll lower the sound quality this evening.

Any update on this? It keeps happening over and over again on WvWvW

Had it happen a few times before (WvW, shatterer, and Kol). So far so good after lowering sound quality a notch under best.

I have noticed this audio bug just recently as well, and I’m not sure if it’s due to recent patch changes or in WvW only. I play 12 hours a day since head start on the 25th and have never experienced this bug until I started WvW. It seems the chances of the bug occurring is when there are a lot of players using skills all at the same time (~roughly 50+) and that causes the sound to “crash”. It may likely be over complexity in the game’s ability to process that overwhelming amount of sound effects all at the same time and crashed the audio. That’s as descriptive as I can be about this bug issue.

Same issue here and it appears only when I’m in WvW and have TS3 running.

I will make my own post on this but same happened consistently to me in WvW and large fights in PVE, I had to turn down sound quality to stop it.
It happened again to me a few times last night, not a big fight, but it was brief pauses, it would do the sound distort for a second or two and the game would freeze, then it would play ok for 3-4 seconds then do it again. The odd part, A bunch of my text changed to chinese when this happened. Have to youtube the video of it today.

I had this problem occurring daily. I fixed it by going into sound options and decreasing sound quality box from highest quality to about medium.

I have this happen a lot too, and earlier it started causing instantaneous crashes. It always happens to me during a large, multi-person chain event or boss fight event.

Why is this problem still not fixed ??
It is around since release in every wvwvw i join after almost 3 hours Queue Time !

Or just implement a workaround for the users like a switch option ingame to reset gameengine sound. Or a grace period for wvwvw so everyone can restart their clients without having to queue up 3 hours again for wvwvw.

I am having this same exact issue. Happens in WvW and large events with lots of folks.

I have uninstalled/re-installed firmware and drivers with no change in status.

I guess this is a know issue.
Unfortunately, the support provided is extremely unprofessional that they resort to ask for account credentials.

To kill to the process and get back into the game is quite fast (great job on that btw) but my only issue is when I am WvW, I have to wait forever to get back into fight by way of long queue’s. Why is it there is not a timer in place to allow us to go right back to the WvW?

Same issue here. (Game crashes eventually for me as well.) It ONLY happens during large scale battles (dragons, WvW zergs, etc.) There have been zero crashes during regular play.

Still getting problem as of today. Got it earlier in WvW.

I have it too. Some time it locks up the game. Doesn’t seem to help to change sound for me.

I have the same issue also, it always happens when there is a large event or mass of people fighting. It usually ends up with a client crash and the gw2 process needing killing.

I’ve having this as well. Always from the left side speakers during wvw zerg fights. Sometimes it’ll lock up a few minutes after sometimes I can play for hours with no game sound and just using winamp to cover for it. To note, no other programs are effected by this.

I seem to get it a lot after playing wvw for maybe like an hour.

Having the same issue in WvW. Sound Blaster Recon 3D card.

I have this same problem, I don’t do much WvWvW (at the moment), but it has happened 3 times, twice killing the Claw of Jormag (the second time it actually crashed my computer) and once just now fighting the Risen Priest of Balthazar in the Straits of Devastation.

I have an Intel I7-3770K 3.5GHz, 16 GB of Ram and a Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatality card. running Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

I will try the trick with lowing the audio quality and see if that helps.

if nobody has mentioned it, you may want to insure your audio is set to 16bit 44khz as this is the most compatible audio format for games…..

Had this today, the issue is still in game.

Had this issue happen to me today during a WvWvW battle. It’s extremely loud even with Window’s volume low, as well as the game’s. First major bug I’ve encountered thus far. =(

…Though a small hot bar for consumable items would be nice! Fix the sound first!!

It has recently begun happening to me again. It’s been about a month since the last pulsing sound/crash, and now it happens daily when I WvW.

Same sound problem followed by a game freeze and a crash… using TS3

This happens to me as well on a pretty regular basis in WvW when a lot of things are going on at once. It happens on both my ASUS Xonar Essence STX card and my onboard Realtek sound. Any updates on where this issue stands? Thanks.

While I’ve never had it happen to me in WvW, it does occasionally happen when battling the Claw of Jormag. This topic is also covered in the Audio section of the forums.

The strange part about this glitch is that when I turned my windows sound quality to 24bit 192k Hz AND the sound quality to high in game it went away completely regardless of the “zerg” size. Also, I tried the same settings on another computer with opposite results. The sound quality and everything on high made the alarm star with the game.

HOWEVER, it has not once crashed on me after the sound thing. That, and acknowledging that IT IS AN ALARM may help you to decide whether or not to turn the game off right away when it happens.

I play in short intervals (a few hours a time at most) and Never for a 12 hour period… and still get this bug.

I am getting this too. Have to exit the game to get rid of it

This soundbug is still present, over and over again (WvW).
Experiments with audio settings ingame does not really help (tested for months).

my game just crashed twice at the Claw of Jormag event, same symptoms (sound goes ooOOOooOOoOOo and after a few seconds client freezes)

Got the same soundbug when doing Claw of jormag and also just recently when i did the Maw event.
This has only occured to me while doing major events.

Happened to me yesterday during Jormag — My game is always muted. (all sound effects). This was super weird….no other sounds, just the weird pulsing noise.

This problem has been “recognized” by anet as an issue for 6 months now. Has there been ANY progress whatsoever? Still getting it once in a while on Claw or Jormag and other big events. It’s a huge problem in wvw and the dragon events because if I crash or log out to restore the sound I will be kicked out of wvw or into overflow if I’m doing a dragon event.
