Weird random sound during play
2008 iMac?
If so then it’s probably your computer. I have a newer iMac which I play GW2 one. But from past experiences with my 08 iMac, when the fans are running and it’s working hard it does make this weird sporadic sound. Absolutely nothing you can do about it, quite certain it’s internal hardware related.
If you’re talking about a different 08 machine, then disregard my entire post xD
It is a 2008 imac, but it’s not a problem with the fans. It definitely isn’t a hardware thing, the sound i mean is a ‘ploink’ sound made by the software. I first thought it was TS3, but i excluded that. So it’s a sound made by GW2 and i can’t find what it is.
Hi evthillo, you could completely rule out the sound coming from the OS or other software by opening the Sound Options in-game, and moving the Master Volume slider completely to the left. I would be interested in knowing if the sound persists.
Could it be the noise the game makes when that bar that shows if you can dodge gets recharged?
My wife and I also got this “problem” although they are also occurring on our windows machines.
They seem to only occur when an engineer places one or more turrets in the vicinity.
When playing my own engineer it only happens when another engineer places his turrets, not when placing my own ones.
Myself and a friend, both using Windows 7 PCs, have also encountered random (non-reproducible) odd sound clips, only a handful of intermittent times since release. They can sound something like a knock on a door, or a partial gunshot, and are much louder than anything else in the game. We’ve discovered that they were tied to actions of our minions or pets, such that when the minion was destroyed or the pet swapped, the random sound went away.
Thank you, Ahrzahni.8740. It was the refilling sound of the dodge-o-meter. It still is an annoying sound though, but at least i know what’s it from. And it’s nothing serious
I also have this issue. It’s a random popping sound. As if someone where clinking hollow thick glass together, like two bottles. I can’t reproduce it, The reason I have noticed it is because I play with Master Vol. Slider all the way left, while chatting on skype, f.ex. The sound tends to be really loud and it does not occur outside of playing the game. The sound occurs both in OSX ML and Bootcamp W7.
- It does seem like the sound can be the endurance gauge fully refilling. But it doesn’t always happen when it is filled up.
I’ll try to record it.
I had a feeling it was. I kept hearing and wondered .. what the heck is making that noise. Then got lucky one day and saw the bar get to half way and the noise was there. Easy to test and then I knew the answer.
