Hi, for the past 1-2 weeks or so I’ve been getting this weird lag (as seen in the video link below) and it basically has gotten to the point where I can’t play anymore as it does this A LOT.
I have a Nvidia GTX 760 OC video card if that has anything to do with it.
It hasn’t done this before.
(my computer specs will be on an attachment below via speccy o_O)
(recorded on my cellphone, basically it does that and crashes)

Hi Shift,
On the video you posted at the end you opened options, did the frame rate actually say 1,897? Because that doesn’t even seem possible. I mean 4k video is rarely that high.
I would recommend you do the following.
First, run a virus scan thoroughly if you have not already.
Check driver updates, did you recently update two weeks ago graphics drivers? Chipset? (You may want to do a roll back) Or the opposite which is, update drivers if they aren’t up to date.
Previous to two weeks ago did you work with some bug fix for another issue? Something game related?
That frame rate just seems way off to me. No game at that frame rate should be running in super slow motion. That spells out the hardware is doing something it shouldn’t.
“Thanks Captain Obvious!”
You may also want to try capping your frame rate as a test to see if that has any effectiveness.
Best,
Van

Im curious as to when this started, did it do this before last weeks patch,
I noticed in the video that you where in WvW with an enemy zerg below you,
Ive noticed that since the update esp to the higher stacks on some conditions, my system will lag out bad while its trying to work out whats going on, granted I get this more at World Events but still.
The FPS reporting on your video at 1800+ is completely wrong, if you have recently updated a GFX driver I would try and roll it back to an older one that you knew worked, it would also be handy to have a program that can monitor temps in real time while playing GW2 to see if anything is spiking.

Hey, thanks for the replies, I actually upgraded the computer im using. I swapped out the case and the SSD only. Ever since I did that I started getting that weird lag basically, about 1-2 weeks ago and I’ve been trying to fix it ever since. There’s nothing wrong with the SSD or the case as I actually took them back to the store and swapped them out for another one seeing as I thought those might’ve been causing it. The other SSD I had (that I took back) actually didn’t do this weird lag, it’d just freeze up and crash, this one just has this lag to it for some reason.
I’m wondering if it could be a motherboard issue or if it’s just a failing video card, my screen does seem to take a while to turn on because I get a “no signal” for about 10-15 seconds, shuts off then I have to shut it back on and it works again (when I restart the computer or power it on)

I’m trying out the frame rate cap thing now you recommended, I’ll let you know how it goes.
Edit: I set it to 60 capped frame rate and it basically crashed a few minutes later, but instead of slow motion it just skipped frames…lol..
Picture here: “optimal settings” everything else is high except shaders being low = optimal? I think something is wrong with the shader.

Is your SSD plugged into the SATA III port ( 6gbs ) or the SATA II
Your SSD might be working correctly but may not be set up via the bios.
Id be more willing to bet your CPU is struggling more than the GFX card, given that GW2 is CPU intense.

Yup, its plugged into the sata 3 port, i honestly just think its my graphics driver, something to do with the phys x engine.

Do you know what version of the driver you are running? Have you tried rolling back at all?

I’m running driver version: 353.30 on NVIDIA GeForce Experience for GTX 760 TI OC 2gb, what do you mean by rolling back? I tried uninstalling all the drivers for the video card and installed an older version but I’m not sure if it was a whole 100% clean install as there may of been bits and pieces of the newer driver still on my system.
Heya,
So I noticed you are running all settings through the NVIDIA software control suite or panel, whatever. Just for the sake of testing. Don’t do that. Change whatever setting to allow the game to determine your graphics card settings.
Then run benchmark testing within Guild Wars 2 with everything in the game turned all the way down through options and see what happens.
Just curious, what SSD are you running? Did it come with any software? My rigg runs Samsung Magician software which monitors the state of the drive in real time.
Also one other thing I recommend you check is your Ramm in through bios. See if anything is showing as partial or malfunctioning. You can also run memtest just to be safe.
Other than that, again check driver dates. Since the update last week people have been posting about extreme lag but your case seems a lot different. Your entire game slows to a crawl but your frame rates display through the roof.
And to answer your question, when you go into device manager in windows and view the hardware (IE) your graphics card and the installed river there is a rollback option. This simplifies the process of uninstall and reinstall by rolling the driver back to the previously installed driver. It’s also kind of fool proof since you aren’t manually going and downloading/installing the wrong previous driver.
