Q:

Topic pretty much sums it up. Something mid range cost wise?

I live in Australia and am subject to their prices.

Are you looking for a microphone to say for TeamSpeak, Mumble or Vent? Also what is your budget?

Here is a good link.

from experience get one that looks comfortable ( i mean you really can’t know for sure if you buy online), i have a microsoft one that ear foam fell off and its a pain to use (too cheap to buy another). but it is 100% worth the money to get a quality mic

I like the Logitech drivers and I cannot agree more when it comes to Razer.

Also depends whether you’re going to use it exclusively for gaming or using it for music/movies as well.

Edit: I’m more biased towards a headset with good stereo sound over gimmicks such as surround. That being said, surround can be emulated by your a sound card with dolby headphone if you wish.

I recently got myself a new headset because I had issues with my Logitec G35.

http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/audio/sirus/

The headset came highly recommended from gamer friends. The reviews also speak very highly of it for gaming.

It is solid and of good quality. It has true surround sound (when you remove the ear cups each side has 4 speakers). This headset sounds much better then my thrown out G35 with it’s crappy virtual surround sound gimmick.

Comfort is a big thing for me, if i play for more than 2 hours without a break, my ears start to sting, even up to 15 minutes after removing them.

In turn i bought a new headset which had softer ear cushions, and the problem went away. The headset i bought was a Sennheiser headset, it cost me £64.99. Which is about $100.

Of course i bought it from another company who sold them.

The headset in question is; http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/home_en.nsf/root/private_headsets_gaming_pc_504121

It’s more of a gaming headset than a general use headset, and i’m not sure how much it would cost to buy it directly from Sennheiser.

By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth.

I tend to go for logitech for headsets. Nothing fancy, just some that work, secificaly the H390.

For pure headphones though atm i use a pair of over ear clossed back DJ(for the long lead) Sennheiser’s (HD 202-II) alot of bass which is why i like them , and for inner ear when outside i got a pair of high quality AKG K330 Wasp’s.
