When I install game does not install
I got your same problem. I did a clean install of windows thinking that it was my fault but the problem is still there. I tried every fix and solution possible but nothing works, I hope the staff can tell us more.
I’m having the very same problem. Glad to know, at least, that I’m not the only one!
I really hope they’re working on it because I’m having a really hard time here.
Same problem….also completely disabled firewall/antivirus

I am having the excact same issues as you guys are unfortunately. Seems its not on our side.
I just found this on another forum post, and it actually worked for me!
’ve had this problem too.
I belive because of something incompatabile with the select_directory window…
Odd solution:
1) create a folder for a game
2) put a Gw2Setup.exe in it
3) change its name to Gw2.exe
4) run
in my case it begun downloading files in current directory…
(Very simple! I just changed the name of Gw2Setup.exe by right-clicking and renaming it to Gw2.exe and after i tried again i went straight to the download.)
A: If you just installed the game, you may have to wait.
Yesterday, they released a new patch to the game. Unfortunately, it messed up a lot of stuff. If you read the other bug section you’ll see tons of threads reporting bugs from the 3/16 update. I’m assuming that they are going to be fixing stuff fairly rapidly because of the sheer number of bug reports coming in. Hopefully, this doesn’t turn you off the game, but for us active players it sure is a pain.
Few things you could do:
-Report it to support. Hopefully, they get back to you fairly quickly.
-Look around. Maybe someone has posted a similar issue and has figured something out.
-Wait. Maybe in a day or so some of the issues from 3/16 patch will have been resolved.

I’m sorry but I really need to do it normal way.

I tried this and managed to get GW2 installed and running on W7 x64.
However it doesn’t look line a normal install, as there are no links in programs or Windows Control Panel “Programs and Features”
Worse still, when I quit GW2 and just tried to play again – it started downloading the entire 30000 plus files again

I’ll see what happens when i get my game downloaded mate! maybe try to not run it off that same launcher? Im not sure though
Thank god i thought i was the only one, having the exact same problem!
I’m having the exact same problem too as OP. I uninstalled the game two days ago and now it will not install.
Same here, at least the issue is’t on our side :S

I did this way last night but still causes problems.. Also you do it this way you cant uninstall the game. Not even listed in programs. You would have to get into hidden files manually delete everything. This way should be avoided..
I just posted about this too. LOL! I’m having the exact same problem. Not a very good way to start my return to GW2 LOL. Hopefully they get this fixed soon, hate to waste $40 on another copy of GW2 without even playing the game.
Same Problem here.
I hope there will be an official solution soon.

thank god! i think this working!
I’m gonna agree, there needs to be an official solution to this. I also uninstalled the game on this laptop since I mostly play on my desktop now, and even then the game uninstalled so quickly unlike other games. It was pretty fishy, but I didn’t think anything of it. When I try to reinstall it though, it just freezes with the installer stuck at 0 KB/sec.
Right now I’m attempting the solution of renaming the setup as Gw2.exe and installing it that way and it seems to be working, but from this thread it seems like this is a pretty terrible way of doing it.
Some official words from an ANet employee on this issue would be nice.
TL;DR Uninstalled the game. Tried to reinstall and it’s stuck on the setup at 0KB. Trying the solution of renaming the setup to Gw2.exe.
