Where are my 4000 gems? Unacceptable
This is lovely too, support replies with this:
“As for your concern. Unfortunately you have to wait up to 72 hrs because your gem will be processed to your account. If after 72 hrs you didn’t receive the gems please reply to this ticket.”
Why should I have to wait 72 hours to receive my gems that I ALREADY PAID FOR? Can you give me $100 and maybe in 72 hours I’ll give you something back? That is not fair at all.

Because it can take up to 72 hours to completely process the payment. Nothing is instant in the banking world, as much as it left your account (whether credit card, or bank account), Anet still doesn’t have it, so they hold the gems until it’s completed.
It took the money out of my bank account already. I can buy gems any time and get them instantly, so why 72 hours for this? Makes no sense. I also paid $100 and was told AFTER paying that I wouldnt receive them for 72 hours. Thats crap, they need to tell people that BEFORE they pay..
Oh and over the past almost 3 years, I’ve made many gem purchases with the same exact paypal account. It makes no sense for them to even consider my account to have a fraudulent purchase at all.
Right at the launch of HoT prepurchases there were a slew of fraudulent purchases.
The time period is to protect the economy, and therefore you as well, from the effects the fraudulent purchases have.
Edit: Everyone gets to wait the 72 hour period thanks to the portion of people who intentionally set out to commit fraud. It’s another case of the few ruining it for the many.
That is a load of crap, several people in my guild go their gems right away after purchasing. Then there are a few others who are stuck waiting like me for no reason.
You’d think they’d be able to determine a purchase that for sure isn’t fraud – like someone who has used the same paypal account on their good standing account for YEARS… I could understand on a newer account, but mine is almost 3 years old and I’ve given them a lot of my hard earned dollars.
It’s not ANet but their payment processor who is taking their time. Huff at them. But by the time you hear back from them it’ll be 72 hours.
RIP City of Heroes

That is idiotic. I can buy $100 in gems right now if I want to and I’ll get them instantly, not 72 hours later. So it isn’t their payment processor.

@Behellagh, in this case it isn’t the payment processor but ANet’s decision for HoT Ultimate purchases.
It’s because of the fraudulent purchases of several HoT Ultimate keys that are causing the issue. And that’s why it’s just purchases of HoT Ultimate affected by the 72 hour waiting period.
Yelling at ANet isn’t going to change the reason why. If you can get through to the people who make the fraudulent purchases and get them to actually stop making them, then you’d be able to get rid of the waiting period. But that will likely happen when pigs fly, unfortunately.
You can complain about not getting them all you want but
Over the last week we have seen an increased fraud purchase attempt rate for our Heart of Thorns Ultimate edition. Because of this increased fraudulent attempt rate, gem delivery for Heart of Thorns Ultimate may be delayed up to 72 hours after purchase.
End of story.
Yes but when I went to purchase this, it said nothing about waiting 72 hours to get my gems until AFTER they took my money. That is a huge part of my frustration. I’m missing out on sales which is the reason that I even paid for the ultimate expansion instead of the regular one…
I have the exact same problem. I intended to buy gems to use for items on sale in the gem store 2 days ago, but I chose to buy the $100 expansion since the cost would be the same for 4000 gems and the basic expansion if I purchased them separately. AFTER I made the purchase, the message about having to wait up to 72hrs for my gems came up.
I don’t mind that there is a 72hr wait, I understand their reasoning for it, but they should have made that info very obvious BEFORE I made the purchase. The expansion and the gems are the only things I actually cared about and I would have purchased them separately if I had known about the wait.
Now I am forced to buy additional gems on top of the ones I have already paid for or miss the sales I bought the gems for in the first place. It’s reasonable to be a little annoyed.
If you go there, or go to the page that talks about pre-ordering, it clearly states
*All in-game items will be delivered upon redemption of a Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns serial code.
Gem delivery may take up to 72 hours after purchase.
So it’s not just a post on the forums, it’s also where you can look at the different packages.
Guys, it clearly states in the purchase of the expansion that it may take up to 72 hours for them to be added. They didnt lie. it is acceptable, and you should read the details before blaming people

Person A pays $99.99 and gets his stuff immediately.
A few minutes later Person B pays $99.99 and is made to wait 3 full days (and yes, the “up to” is bullkitten, it’s a full 3 days now) during a time restricted gem sale. Person B notes the money is gone from his credit card account the same exact way Person A’s credit card was charged. Person B wonders “WTF”.
Person A tells Person B, “Hey don’t get angry! The fine print says you’d be screwed.”
If ArenaNet is having a major fraud problem they should pause the gem sale. And pigs will fly.

And then the fraud problem comes back as soon as they unpause the gem sale.

You realize they put the 72 hour delay on over 17 days ago (it’s like 19-20 days now). So no, it’s not like they just put the delay on. It’s been there for almost 3 weeks.
