I’ve got an i7920@4ghz. I have recently upgraded from an old AMD 4890 to an R7 265. I figured I’d be able to max every graphical option with decent FPS. Well, turns out I barely got any performance improvement if any. My frames are almost identical as before. This is while in an isolated zone with no one around me. The new R7 265 is slightly more powerful than a 7850. I assumed that’d be enough to turn every setting to max, super-sampling enabled but I guess it’s not. Which kind of GPU should I be looking at to achieve the performance I am looking for? Thanks.

That’s because an R7 265 is all you need to max the game at 1080P. If you wanted more frames, the key lies in overclocking your i7 even further.

That’s also because the higher your graphics, the LOWER your performance. If your game was set to everything on max before, and you did a hardware upgrade, you’d see an improvement on the SAME settings. If you got a 10% increase in performance with the upgrade, but you increased the graphical settings, you probably just lost that 10% increase.

Honestly, I wouldnt even use super-sampling unless you’re running a monitor that is well below the max of your card (1280×1024 vs 1900×1600 and larger).

Your GPU is capable of running GW2 at max graphics but your CPU isn’t. You can try overclocking that, upgrading your CPU (and the motherboard along with it) and regardless of what you do turning Shadows, Reflections and CharLimit down
