So i logged off my engi and logged on my ranger to do my dailies etc… and logged back on my engi and it says “change name” …name:“Little Taliban” asura engineer…people were passing by and laughing and we had great time…originaly “taliban” means “student” + it’s a funny song …i don’t get you people reporting funny names,and pretending it is “offensive” ,this is the 1st online GAME that i had ever experienced this (that we need to change names co’z they can’t be banned from name creation tab)if you think that something is “offensive” remove it lol…And i would like to see more work on the BALANCING the warriors in pvp co’z it’s funny how if you don’t dodge 1 hammer swing you’re dead co’z of there isn’t any CC cooldown,like after 2 stuns you can’t be stunned for 1s etc…those immunity skills,the damage,the survivability that it has,it’s insane and give some love to the other classes like rangers(PETS),necros(PETS) etc…

You know why.

So if all around me are laughing and 10 guys report me co’z they don’t have better thing to do and simply “oh look a funny BUT offensive name here have a report co’z kitten you” lol(somebody might report me now co’z i typed “kitten you” pff)and if i am kittened at someone co’z he is acting stupid in WvW and wasting our time like in fractals.dungeons etc,i get report co’z i am swearing at him lol if all of this community acted like them how can you finish a fractal scaled 20+ or how would you like to win in WvW?

so i’ve payed 60$ so i can get a huge contract to read and “enjoy” myself while playing and lose my freedom of speach…ah YEAH and ANet mentioned this in the name policy Can’t use names that: “Are pornographic”,“Make inappropriate references to human anatomy or bodily functions” tell me why is that banable?I can see the gear on female norns/humans semi naked but that is not banable….You don’t want offensive names but you want a pornstar with 2 daggers to nuke you in 2s and strip on your corpse while someone is jerking off on his toon…

Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse for this game. You choose to not read them, you take the risk.

Freedom of speech means that the GOVERNMENT can’t make laws that infringe upon your right to speak. Is ANet a government agency now?

First ammendment reads as follows: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Since ANet is not the government, they can come up with whatever naming policy they want and not be in violation of the first ammendment. If they want to change the rules to state that all characters must abide by racial lore of the race they chose, then they can do that.

And they designed the armor. None of which actually shows anything, just doesn’t leave much to the imagination.

Well if they don’t want offensive names why don’t they ban ALL OF THE OFFENSIVE WORDS in the name creation tab at 1st? + They added a “BLOCK” button so if someone is swearing or spamming or what ever,use it lol don’t have to report someone co’z he payed 60$ and he is offensive in game or in real life,and he might get PERMA banned for his attitude/name and lose his 60$

Someone might get banned permanently for their total disregard of the rules, this is true.

You can only change the name of character, or send in a request to CS for review. Though, that would likely be wasting everyone’s time.

So they gave some control to the players hoping they would stop and think about the name they were choosing and thinking if it would offend someone. Apparently, you didn’t.

Take a few minutes to think about the next name you choose and you’ll avoid further issues.

Your name broke the rules. They had every right to report you.

1st of all you’re making armors for females to look like playboy bunnys and you don’t want pornographic names or anything related to that? it’s like saying “Don’t use any related pornographic words in Blade and soul” that’s insane…If you don’t know BAS search it and look at the armor sets for females…

All of my names are perfect they won’t offend anyone,and i made this co’z it’s hilarious to see an asura engi using bomb,grenade kits and name it that way.And you mentioned about “they have better things to do than sit down and think of every possible offensive name.” well i can’t see the changes the storyline and the living world are EPIC AWESOME loving it but where are the balancing patches for the classes? Co’z we all know that warriors are the most OP class ever made to date and thiefs but they have been nerfed so i won’t complain about them

And i won’t go against the contract.I will change my name but i wanted to know why are we so i don’t know how to say it :/ “stucked” with that contract and we don’t have that freedom as other mmos do…

Apparently some people did find your name offensive. Hence you got reported. And then ANet went yep, I can see why the name got reported. -sends out name change requirement for character-

Because your name is offensive to some people. That’s why you got stuck with having to change your name. And not reading the rules before making your character and not knowing of that rule is not an excuse.

And what other MMO’s do is irrelevant. GW2 isn’t other MMO’s. It’s GW2.

i would like to see funny names and i don’t care if they offend me or not co’z everyone wants an EPIC funny name,and thinks it will offend him or not :/ i don’t know why are you obsessed with reporting each other we all see that gw2 community is lowering ….

Newsflash: I didn’t report you and I would have likely just shook my head and went on with my day and not reported you. Because other people would and your name wasn’t highly offensive.

That is what am i trying to say…everyone that came to me or saw me on /yell /team was laughing and for ex. 5~10 guys who don’t have better things to do in GW2 reported me and now i have to change my name co’z a couple of guys find it offensive and the rest are laughing…And i came here co’z i tought people will laugh,tell a ton of jokes,rage(like always) etc…But nah it’s nothing like that

Well it’s a game as far as i know,i hope people don’t think that i am real taliban and i work for AL Quaeda and bomb people irl lol people are getting obsessed with an in-game name i wish i could see them irl with a -,-’ face on them and mine xD xd

I want to see people happy i don’t like to see sad people i want to make them smile like ME! 24/7 smiling laughing …eh wish all of the people could take a joke and not be offended immediately :/

Just stop and move on. You can complain and try to say “BUT THIS IS WHY” all you want. You completely know why that name is not going to pass. Be an adult and move on. If you are under 18, then your parents need to teach you better.

You’ve got to understand that not everyone shares the same sense of humour. Clearly not everyone was laughing that you passed, otherwise you wouldn’t have got reported.

I didn’t report you, but I would have if I saw that. I once saw a guy norn whose name was a reference to the falling of the Twin Towers – and his guild name too. I reported him, he then changed it to something similar and I re-reported him. Not everyone finds that kind of thing funny, which is why they have the naming policy.
