I could run Lotro and WoW without any problems, so I just assumed I could run it and already payed for the game. However, today I checked on systemrequirements lab and it says my computer isn’t good enough. So now it looks likely that I won’t be able to run it. :\

The only thing that doesn’t pass, however, is my video card. They suggest I have an ATI Radeon X1800, but I have an AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250.

I don’t expect stunning graphics with amazing fps or anything, but will the game at least be playable if I tweak the graphics a bit?

GW2 is much more demanding game to play. At best the lowest with everything turned down wont even get you the playable fps you want.

A laptop that old, is way before GW2, and wow is already 10 years old.

That’s a disappointing thing to hear. I don’t have enough money to spend on a new computer at the moment, so it will probably be a long time before I get to try the game. =s

Like you said it is below minimum requirements. It’s still possible the game will respond and you will be able to run around and do simple tasks with bare minimum settings – but there are no promises. The 4250 is a few notches below the minimum graphics requirements (i.e. Integrated HD 3000).

People who are on minimum or just above can barely play the game. The advertised minimum requirsments are actualy to low. They need to be raised as alot of people complain about performance issues when they only barely beat minimum requirments.
If you laptop is below the minimum requirments you have next to no chance of playing the game ..let alone play it at any playable fps.

At the very least you need a up to date 2core 4 thread cpu at 3ghz(intel). and a GTX 460 or ATI equivalent to play PVE with playable fps and adequate graphics settings.

Because your computer can run games released like 6+ years ago, you assumed it can run games released in 2012?

The graphics looked similar to lotro’s, so I didn’t think the requirements would be too different. Obviously I was wrong, but I’m used to my computer at least being able to run games on lowest settings.

I tried it though and apparently the game runs at a playable fps for PvE. I don’t know whether my graphics card or internet speed matters more for wvw and pvp, so hopefully I can do those things as well. I’ll still be upgrading whenever I can, but I’m thankful the game is at least playable for me.

WvW is dependent mostly on the CPU you can have a low end graphic card and still get good fps if your CPU is strong.

GW2 is telling 100% truth when they post there system requirements.

Minimum = Without at least this level of parts your game probably will not run, and if it does it most likely will not be playable with about 5-10 FPS.

Recommended = If you want to play this game on Low settings with a playable FPS (20-30) this is what you need.

If you want anything Higher then low setting or higher then 30 FPS you will need a top end system..
