Will the intel G3258 run this game ok?
The g3258 will be enough to run the game perfectly. Just OC it and enjoy a smooth experience.
The i5 is only needed if you plan to record game footage or doing some multitasking.

I have no idea. I don’t know much about CPU. The thing is GW2 don’t really require that good of a computer to run. I have a pretty cheap computer before and I can run 3 GW2 client smoothly.
But I suggest you don’t use windows 10. Since I’m using the exact same video card and have fps problems. Some other people have express the same thing using the 700 or 900 series. The Nvidia drivers on windows 10 don’t seem to be really stable right now. I would suggest you wait a while before upgrading to windows 10.
You need to define what you mean by “random stutters” and “work smoothly” because most of that is due to server hiccups, other software on your system deciding it’s a good time to run, or your drive gets testy. Plus it’s a budget build and please don’t say that’s fine because it’s an old game. Manage expectations.
Old review from Tom’s Hardware shows that more than 2 cores is better and not talking 2 cores with HT.

I’m sure sirsquishy will be along with his person experience here is a like to one of his posts on the subject.

That build is exactly what my brother has right now. It ran GW2 all right outside of big zergs; the zergs lagged even with the G3258 at 4.8 GHz. That being said, that’s a good budget build and as long as you limit the character models and reflections/shadows you should be able to get a smooth experience in 95% of the game.
If you’re willing to spend the money, an i5 will make a pretty solid different, especially if you spring for a k model and overclock it. I saw massive improvements going from a 3.3 GHz i3-3220 to a 4.6 GHz i5-3570k even without changing my GPU.

A g3258 will run the game pretty well. Aim for a baseline OC of 4.2Ghz if running stock Cooling on a budget board or a 4.8Ghz OC for aftermarket and a decent Motherboard.
At a 4.4ghz OC and a HD5770 I am seeing a constant 80-120FPS in the open world, 45-55FPS in the cities and after the hidden mini delay, 18-24FPS for zerg content.
WvW fluctuates based on the players on the field and your Character limit/model settings. But Ill say the average is 32 when your around the walls/towers
With a dual core build you want your settings tuned for your ideal play area. Mine is Teq/Jormag/KK/WvW.
So everything is set to High except the following
FXAA – None
Sampling – native
Shadows – Low
Shaders – Medium (HD5770 is not a high end card here)
Post processing – Low
Character Limit – Low
Character Models – Medium
Uncheck everything but LOD limit and vSync(prevents tearing)
