Will this laptop run GuildWars 2?
terrible choice
Beyond minimum setting (and even that bad)? Nope.
Everything checks out except the graphics card which in the case of the B50 is actually a tablet graphics card reengineered for laptops (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-B50-30-Notebook-Review.121910.0.html)
Maybe look for a computer with just a little better graphics card
Technically it will run it, but it will run slow even at low settings. So playable? Probably not.
I got gw2 running on my old t400 thinkpad with integrated graphics, but it’s not a good playing experience.
I picked up an Acer for $399 at Microcenter with an I5m processor and an Intel HD4400 on broad video and I can play with all in game setting mid to low and I get 20 to 40 fps not great but not bad if you just want to pop on the game to do dailies or some basic stuff while hanging out at Starsmucks, as long as I stay out of any large zergs I’m happy with it I didn’t get the laptop for gaming but more for audio recording and running a digital mixer. I gave GuildWars a try just to see if it would even run on it and was supprized I could get what fps I got.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
If you are shooting for $400 max at BestBuy.
or slightly older
Better performing CPU + GPU in either than the OP’s pick. The HP using latest gen CPU/GPU combo is a bit better than the Asus which is 1 gen behind.
RIP City of Heroes
Honestly, for 400 you are better off buying a used Laptop from Ebay.
I would recommend a Dell Precision M6500. if you get one with an i7 920xm you are looking at about 350-450, if you want the best possible specs then youll want to get it with a FireGL 7820(HD5870M), or Nvidia Quadro 3800M(GTX280M)
On mine, at 1920×1200 with a HD5870 and the i7-920XM I am getting 60FPS-80FPS on high settings (Shadows Low, Char limit/quality low/low, and no reflections).
For the sub 500 price range, I really think this is the Absolutely best bang for your buck right now. Anything else is a rip off from the manufactures.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
