Windows 10 Creators Update causing issues?
Same for me, I tried both the x64 and x86 exe files and nothing happens after I click Play
Hi all,
I too was having the same issue that you mention above with the game not running after I clicked play.
It only happened to me today even though I did the Win 10 update on the weekend via the official Microsoft Windows site.
The thing that was causing my problem was I decided to use MSI afterburner and enable the Riviatuner overlay to show my in game FPS, before I started the game today. After I did this the game was having the “not running after I click play issue”.
When I disabled the Riviatuner FPS overlay I was able to click play and the game would run.
Maybe it helps yourselves if you have something similar running.
A point to note is that previous to the Win 10 update I had the Riviatuner FPS counter running with zero issues in Guild Wars 2 but I had decided to disabled it altogether as it was causing Battlefield 1 to crash.

No problems here with the Creators update. I don’t run any overlay, optimizer, tuner, booster, beautifier, whatever tool. All this stuff only weakens your system stability. Useless junk, snake oil.
Just windows and the game and other apps. Works. No bluescreens, no crashes. Never. Neither before the update, nor after.

Something has definitively changed.
If you want Afterburner overlay to work again you need the last Beta RTSS server 7.0

My Reshade 3.0 was broke after the update. to make it work you need to manually put the files inside the bin64 folder and edit the ini with the correct path.

Now my streaming software(Mirillis Action) is broken and incompatible : Reshade 3.0 + Mirillis Action crash my game if i run both at the same time… i need to remove reshade to make it work and this is not an option … Gw2 is ugly as hell wihout it.

Yep it appears the problem was with RivaTuner. I stopped it from running the was able to launch the game. I also updated to the latest v7 beta and was able to see monitoring numbers.
I just recently installed SweetFX with Overwolf so didn’t see issues from there. I agree that the game looks prettier with it.
Can confirm that GW2 was not loading past the launcher post-creator update, and rivatuner was the cause. updating rivatuner to the beta 7.0 version fixed the issue.
Rivatuner Statistics Server = on screen overlay of system performance specs used by MSI Afterburner

rivatuner is not the cause because I am having this problem and I run no external programs, it just doesn’t open past the launcher in some resolutions, but if i set it to native (which never used to change anything, it used to be perfectly fine running on the other resolutions) it does open, but it goes to a black screen, but the music starts playing, and the only way to get out of it is to sign out of my computer to force the program to close (alt+f4 doesn’t work, and it lets me open the task manager, but then flashes back to the black screen so i can’t do anything after that)

its not helpful if you do not list your hardware information.
Perhaps post windows event logs?
Or, try to reinstall the driver but uninstall it completely with DDU?

I wonder microsoft mess up the driver abi a bit with the creators update. Oh well, problems with slow abi. I wonder how greg kh manages to be subscribed to windows driver mailing list.
