Guild Wars 2

Hi need some help here. Today I got my new desktop pc with windows 8.1 installed on it. However when I’ve downloaded the install client from the GW2-website and launch it it doesn’t work. What happens is he launches and downloads about 10-15mb. Then minimizes to the systemtray and no longer responds.
How do I get my GW2 installed on my new system?
I already tried right-clicking on the installer.exe and launching it as admin. But no result.
Then I tried by setting the run in compatibility mode to Win7 and launch it that way. No result either. I’m at a loss here.

Brief system details: Msi Z97, Msi GTX760 2GB, i5 4460 , 8gb ram, nvidia 340.52 drivers.

Run the installer in admin mode and disable your antivirus if there was one pre installed also turn off Windows Firewall. If your system came with Norton or Mcgaffee get rid of it and get Avast or just use the built in Windows Security essentials. There are more gamer friendly and not as big as a resource hog as the others.

Try the first option where it talks about changing settings from the Control Panel, I had the same issue as you and after I tried it, it started working.

@Adobo: Thanks for the link. It was a very simple one to get it downloading. Just had to tick-off the Proxy Autodetetion. Working fine now. Thanks.
