Performance is same when idle in GW2 on Win8 vs Win7. But I get massive FPS drop or shuttering when moving around in Win8 than Win7. Even moving to new area.

I am not sure if Win8 has different thread handling and if so, I think GW2 engine needs to optimize for Win 8. I am getting FPS lost while turning my camera and moving to new area on Win8.

On Win7, everything is smooth constant FPS unless it is in WvW.

It’s mostly good for me on Windows 8 , except today it finally hardlocked with the looping sound at the time of the lock up. Only way out is to hit reset.

The problem is you upgraded your PC or Laptop to Windows 8 when it was actually specifically designed to be used on I-phones, I-tablets, and other touch screens.

If you have a touch screen device, there is no argument Win 8 is the best,
but for PC’s and Laptops….you should stick with Windows 7.

That’s not the case, Windows 8 RT is for the tablets, Windows 8 Pro still have the desktop like Windows 7 minus Start menu. That’s about it.

Great…..I always love the next operating system when they still have all the same stuff, minus some the previous version had. It will match my Sports games this year.

Windows 8 has everything Windows 7 has. The start menu changes, and there is NOTHING stopping you from looking at the old start menu. Download “startisback” and you’re good to go.

i have noticed a disturbing trend with Nvidia drivers lately though, the newer the driver, the worse the performance, at least for my 500 series cards.

I’m having performance issues as well since the latest AMD drivers, seems everyone’s moving in the wrong direction.

As for Windows 8 itself, the only areas which concern the performance of the game are improved from Windows 7. Apart from vendor compatibility, Win8 can technically only result in an increase of performance. It is not to blame for any of our issues.
